hi!
I have bought the notebook MSI GX700X with mainboard MS-1719x vers.1.000 and BIOS Build Date 06/15/2007 BIOS Version 080014 (as the programm MSI InfoView XP shows it). MSI Live Utility presents the same BIOS as being BIOS Version 1.0.
Anyway, this BIOS seems to be only for Windows Vista. I have problems in installing the Windows XP SP2. Some drivers are reported incorrectly by Windows and especially the driver for the videocard (NVIDIA 8600) cannot be installed at all.
I would like to ask you help me with the following info:

Is it possible to install on this notebook Windows XP SP2? If it is, how? ..where can I found BIOS for WIN XP?

thanks for HELP!!

Look, you have to understand that Windows XP is like five years old OS. Even after SP2 (which was out in summer 2004) the OS didn't supported Serial ATA's AHCI/RAID interface out of the box - so you had to use floppy drive to load the drivers (F6) or integrate them (using nLite as easiest way). And this is not the end - after successful basic installation the system needs literally TONS of system updates to be secure and/or support latest hardware (dual/multi-core CPUs, FireWare, SDHC for example) which some of them are not widely known.

So I would personally stayed with Vista, especially if you get in in the box.

But if you're insist, at least try to use "SEARCH" function in this forum. We'd talked about ways how to obtain updated drivers compatible with NVIDIA mobile GPU and IGP chipsets in past. I'm pretty sure the modified drivers from LaptopVideo2go guys will work for you too, no matter if you'll go ith XP or Vista.

For the BIOS - I found this on MSI's support page

There is a 3.0G BIOS shown for XP but all of the drivers are for Vista on the MSI website for GX700. I can only assume the GX700X is the Extreme Edition as it does not show a GX700X as such just Extreme & Performance Editions.

He was giving it as an example.

I've looked every where I can think of, there is no driver for 8600M GT, except for MSI's one for Vista.

The X stands for OSLESS which means the notebook was not supplied with a OS by MSI.

If its Extreme the name would be, GX700E and for Performance its either GX700 or GX700P

Anyway, XP drivers are not yet WHQL certified so thats why they are not on the website.
I think the driver from HenryW should work. If not, lemme know, i have a GX700 here and i can test it if you want.

You're kidding me? The 8600M GT are supported in LaptopVideo2GO's modified INF files, so it means your card is supported as well!
Look, if you didn't understand what I mentioned in the other threads, try to read this guide. Then go to NVIDIA support page, download the latest official WHQL ForceWare 162.18, unzip'em, replace the INF file as mentioned in the guide and you should be all set.
