Hi,

We had these motherboards for a year or so now, but someone on a grant was designing a 'google-based' grid out of them. (currently have 9 motherboard), but he ran off from them, and not been touched since, then we have taken over these board, and I have found out they don't bloody work, so I am thinking that this guy who was doing this, ran away because he couldn't get them to work neither at the time. Well, here goes...

Current situation.

Board - K8N Master2-FAR motherboard
CPU - AMD Opteron - Socket 940 - 246 - 2Ghz - Single Core
RAM - Corsair - CM1024-3200C2PT - 2GB (2x1GB) - XMS Xtreme Memory Speed
Gfx - MSi - NX7300GS
PSU - 500W Akasa

So first thing is, we turn it on...

Fans turn, keyboard doesnt flash, no monitor activity.
I was expecting some beeping, but found out there's no speaker on the board, found a plugin speaker.

Turned in it, now there's a beep. 2 second long beep, with a 1 second cap between each 2 second beep.
This could be the RAM, so I have tried various of RAM chips, 266mhz, 333mhz and other 400mhz chips.. value, performance, normal.. everything we have in the store. Nothing changes.

I have checked the CPU list, and it says it does support 246-2ghz processor. But I am not thinking it could be the CPU, I am not sure.
I don't have other type's of CPU to play with to try that, and this is happening on ALL 9 motherboards, they all have the same configuration. (as listed above)

Now, does anyone have any idea whats wrong with these boards?

But I have asked my boss to order another AMD Opteron CPU - which is like err.. 265? 270? I forgot what it was, but it's dual core. but that may take time to come through.

Thanks
Plawlor

Edit.
P.S
The guy who was doing these boards, MAY HAVE done something with them... (e.g bios update?) The guy isn't here anymore so I can't ask him what the hell he has done with these boards.

You need ECC, REG memory, board can't boot with current one

I am wondering why CORSAIR has this memory LISTED as featured RAM for this damn motherboard.
I will contacting corsair to correct that page, and remove the featured ram.

Which may why the guy who originally bought the stuff, thought this RAM should work with this board via the memory configurator.
thanks anyway

Right,

found 16gb worth (512mb each) of ECC REG! and the damn mobo works now. I should have noticed that in the first place.

so the guy who bought the RAM, must have been embarrassed and didn't bother telling us that he can't get them working.. (yeah the guy was going a pdh/degree, and im the technical support)

but thanks anywho =)

Stop swearing please, it's not the boards problem.
