Windows 7 Realtek HD Audio Drivers
« on: 14-January-09, 01:03:51 »

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has got the drivers to work for Realtek HD audio, codec is ALC888 the MB i have is MSI P7N Platinum. I am using the vista 64 bit drivers that MSI providers.
Here is the message i got in the device manager.
(Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

If anyone found a solution to this i would be greatful.

Is your audio working? If so, don't worry about it, it is not a 'problem' ;-))

Yes, I am using the on board Realtek HD audio too, but as far as I am concerned..all sounds are working. Have you tried checking in device manager?does it detect any errors?

Well you failed to mention that fact in your first post :hat tip:

Try installing the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers for Vista 64bit from here and see if they work:

I got mine to install by disableing driver signing.
Restart the computer
after the post start hitting "F8" like it's going out of style
you should get a start menu
the last options should be "disable driver signing" select it and press enter
I had to do this for most of my drivers but it worked to a point
My realtek still won't play during Bioshock game play, but windows sounds do play.  The audio control panel detects plugging in devices but won't show speakers, nor will it play the test sound ( put I can push Play  ??? )
If you find any info on this, please let me know.

Hope that helps!

R214 vista driver will not work with ALC888 in windows 7. You need to use Vista_R213. I posted the link yesterday. Here it is again.

Re: Windows 7 Realtek HD Audio Drivers Major Gaming Issue
« Reply #12 on: 08-February-09, 16:55:39 »

Dear All:

I like Win 7 but I cannot get one game to run under these drivers.  Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 crash and the error comes back sound driver issue.  I researched it extensively and tried all fixes with no success. I was going to buy a ATI X2 card but if the games do not work it is a waste of money.  I imagine realtek losing business fast if this issue is not solved ASAP.  Any comments?  I am satisfied with MSI but why use realtek as a OEM if it is difficult?  Vista users have the same issues, BTW WinXP works fine.  The future of the hardware depends on plug and play gaming.

Windows 7 is currently a :beta:. If you want a stable OS to play games on, use Windows XP.

IMHO I have no complaints about the Realtek audio, its come on most boards I've used in recent years. Certainly not as difficult as Creative

Looking at the History for R2.15 it only shows a fix to the uninstallation for Windows 7. Not sure if other fixes are included.  :confused2:

I was wondering if anyone has got the drivers to work for Realtek HD audio, codec is ALC888 the MB i have is MSI P7N Platinum. I am using the vista 64 bit drivers that MSI providers.
Here is the message i got in the device manager.

If anyone found a solution to this i would be greatful.

I think I have found a solution to this.

I recently had problems my self.

First you have to install this, from Intel: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/detail_desc.aspx?agr=N&DwnldID=7525&ProductID=1861

Second, install the latest drivers from Realtek, R2.22. I uploaded the zip file to filefront, as their ftp server is running by mouse power. http://files.filefront.com/Vista+R222zip/;13661269;/fileinfo.html

I hope it will work. for you. I had a lot of trouble finding the solution. Everything has to do with Intel's high definition codec that for some reason Realtek choose not to include in their driver packages.

Greets

Let me know how it goes!
