My hard disk crashed recently so i need a new one.
My previous was a simply ata disk but now i think i'll buy a sata 150 disk
I already seen for a western digital raptor 74G 10000RPM, but they are really expensive, and i heard they produce much noise to...
What do you guys think?

like you say raptor is overpriced, way over priced lol, i used to own two, got sick of the noise lol and sold them, get a couple of 500gb sata drives with 32mb cache and raid0 them, should be much better and loads off space, bear in mind if your board and OS supports them

the western digital raptor series are high end because they have 10000 rpm and they're built for servers or gaming machines, if you want performance you can buy it. I recommend to purchase a S-ATA Western Digital Caviar Black (1TB, 640Gb,500GB)

You don't really need a raptor unless you are a very big gamer who demands high speed loading.

Any SATA I disk out there will suit your price budget.

That would be a good choice. If you are encountering problems having Windows to recognise the full 500GB, try to update the service packs and look under microsoft site for the registry DWORD for LBA 136GB support.
