I've own this laptop for about a month now and I rather like it, except for the 32bit version of windows 7 that came with it. Anyway, My friend hooked me up with a free Upgrade to W7 Pro 64bit version. Now it didn't work because for some reason you have to buy a specific Upgrade version and that one only allows for XP or Vista to upgrade. So I had a never used XP copy I decided to use. It wouldn't install so I formated the C: drive to try and force it on there, but none the less it didn't work. So I decided for now just to go back to factory settings by using the MSI Recovery Manager, which should just reinstall Windows 7, but when I click it to do so it gets to the screen that says "Lose all C: Data" and then it just has the MSi back ground with the "Please don't touch" text. After about 20 seconds the background changes to grey for a quick second and it reboots. Once it reboots it loads to a "Windows Boot Manager" screen giving me a "0xc000000f" error.

Now there is no loading bars or anything that appear when Recovery Manager runs, so I am wondering if it is actually doing anything. Is there a solution for this problem?

Hi steev,

If you are from the US, feel free to contact me or our US support team (during regular business hours) to obtain Recovery DVDs if you are unable to restore your OS.

I was planing on doing that, but since it happened late last night and you guys aren't open on the weekends. Thus, I was hoping there was a solution that could be done before I have to wait till monday to order the DVD and then have to wait another week just to get the DVD. So I was just trying to see if there was a solution that wouldn't make my laptop useless for a week.

The strange thing is, when I boot to the Upgrade version of Windows 7 and go to the Repair options it recognizes that there is a Windows 7 installed, but when I list C: from the dos prompt, there are no files. So I figure that something is wrong with the Manager itself and I was hoping if there was some other kind of bootable file that I could download or something that would fix the manager. If not, then I shall wait untill Monday and give you guys a call for that disc.

Hi steev, the recovery doesn't work anymore because you had altered the partition and bootmgr when you formatted the HDD.
The repair function from Win 7 disc only works when you had created a backup in the OS previously.

When you call us, be sure to provide your SN to the tech support agent, thank you.

Ahh, that is what happened and I was only using the Repair option on the disc to get access to a dos prompt.

Thanks for letting me know what went wrong.
