MSI A6200-206US Webcam issues
« on: 06-August-10, 22:51:18 »

I have recently purchased this computer: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/497949/MSI-A6200-206US-156-LED-Backlit/

During the initial setup, it got to the point where it was installing "Windows Live English" and stalled for about thirty minutes, so I turned the computer off. After running it in safe mode and getting a BSoD once, it works just fine, except for the fact that it does not believe that there is a camera installed. I can't find a driver or anything on this site either.

I figured out the webcam issues (reading works wonders), but I still am curious as to where to find the driver updates, and what else could have gone wrong with the Live thing.

A6200 is the USA designation.  The rest of the world labels it as a CR620.  The webcam uses the built-in OS drivers be it XP or Windows 7.

all that you need is to activate the webcam [check your manual about it], OS will install it automatically

Ah, thanks. I figured it must have been something like that if it wasn't showing up anywhere on their site.

Yes, we wish MSI USA would use the same designations that the rest of the world uses--it would save a lot of confusion.  BTW, on the USA, there is a link for downloading drivers and the manual which leads you to the page I linked.

We have a sticky about the differences in designations: http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=133088.0
