Manually turn on/off wireless
« on: 28-April-11, 15:55:38 »

Hello everyone,
I have an MSI GX630 laptop. The touch sensor bar at the top of the keyboard got smashed recently, and now I cant use touch sensors to enable my wifi or my camera or use any of the buttons that were on that panel. Could someone tell me if there is a method to manually enable/disable wireless on my laptop? because I went to repair it and the told me it can't be done because they don't have these kind of parts for sale.
Thank you.

Can I somehow modify the hotkeys in SCM in order to use a combination to turn on and off wireless?

I believe that the soft key on the display bar is controlled by a start up program.  You could try uninstalling or disabling the program in /msconfig.  Then you might be able to manually control it with the device manager.

I don't know if that will work, but it's an idea...

Tried, it did not work :( I just realized that I can't even turn on my webcam nor my bluetooth, how can there be no other way to enable these devices on a computer?!

The broken part will have to be replaced, simple as that. You can send it back to MSI for an 'out-of-warranty' repair, but it will cost you.
