Slimak:
Hi,

If anybody think about Windows 8 Developer Preview on tablet, I confirm that it is working great. Fast boot, responsibility, almost no problems. What will make problem for me:
- VPN Cisko not working
- Sometims apps (not application) stop working. You can kill them from task manager.
- one device without driver, but I don't know which one beacouse, everythig is working.

Anybody use Windows 8?

Nice to know - I have just got my 110W. I have a 4Gb DDR3 stick waiting and am waiting for a 128Gb SSD (http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/mydigitalssd-128gb-50mm-bullet-proof-msata-ssd/ to turn up so I can upgrade and install Windows 8 (x64).
Did you need to install any drivers or did Win8 have everything you needed?
Keep us up to date with any developments / issues / apps etc.
Thanks

Yeah I'm sure AMD were actually demoing it recently.

Stu:
I tried Windows 8 out recently on my Windpad 110W, and while it does work better than Windows 7, its still not quite the finished article.

I didn't need to install any drivers, everything was recognised 'out-of-the-box', apart from the card reader and GPS sensor, for which I had to download and install the Windows 7 drivers.

What I found most puzzling, for the 'Metro-style' apps included, is that there appears no way to 'close' them down, apart from using Task Manager to 'kill' them.

Annoyingly also, as I installed the 64bit version, the included IE10 wouldn't play BBC iPlayer content, even after downloading and installing the Adobe Flash Player beta.

The big loss for me is the lack of any kind of Media Center software, although Windows Media Player is included, it is hidden away and you really have to find it, the new Start Menu doesn't make it that easy to find.

So my initial conclusion is that although still in a very early stage of development, Windows 8 is 'potentially' a very useful operating system for touchscreen tablet systems, but isn't really practical for desktop systems just yet.

Does it automatically switch to portrait mode if you rotate the tablet?
