790FX-GD70 Freezing
« on: 27-October-11, 10:01:16 »

Im a novice with BIOS settings and hardware tuning. I'll try to provide what i can and know.

My computer started to freeze when after a game crashed which ended up with me having to instantly shut of the power. After the instant shutdown i got a disk "read error occurred" Message on start up, i switched SATA ports on the hard drives which worked, but then it started to freeze on boot and after BIOS.

So i re-installed Win7 32-bits, which worked fine, no freezes, but when i tried to install win7 64-bit this morning (which i had before the re-installation of win7)and i got these freezes and once a "Hypertransport Sync Flood Error". I found some solutions, but they require me to tune voltage, but i'm not experienced enough to safely the change voltage.

I don't know. I'm away at the moment, but will reply with RAM specific's as fast as i can.

By the information i have given you, does this seem to be any complicated hardware error?

This one? "The new PC3-12800 Platinum Edition was developed to offer enthusiasts a memory solution that takes full advantage of the capabilities of the Intel P35 and X38 Express chipsets."

Set memory speed down.
But mostly Hypertransport Sync Flood Errors have to do with the graphics card. You may want to troubleshoot down that lane, too. For example finding another driver, try another card and so on.

1.7V RAM made for use on old Intel P35 Combo/X38 MB? You should get proper 1.5V 1333 RAM for your system. OCZ RAM can't be trusted anyway, they even stopped marketing RAM way back in Feb. of this year.

Get some good low cost Kingston or Crucial 1.5V 1333 RAM and then at least you would be sure RAM is not part of your problem.

My friend helped me with the problem, he changed timing on DRAM in BIOS.

These would be fine, yes?
