GX 740 BIOS/VBIOS
« on: 25-March-12, 00:19:45 »

Heysa Guys! Just joined the msi forum, as i got a couple of questions (:

Since i've had some problems with some unusual crashes, possibly high temps, i googled it and found out it could be caused to and old VBIOS update.

My current vBios version is:

BIOS Version String: BR36532.018
ATOMBIOS Version: ATOMBIOSBK-ATI VER012.020.000.004.036532

The vbios version i found http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GX740.html#/?div=Firmware is 0.31 which doesn't make any sense compared to mine (At least in my head)

I found the Forum flasher thingy, but as i never have updated any bios related stuff im lost :P

And also if i need to update my vBIOS, do i have to or should i update my BIOS also?

Please feel free to ask for more information and stuff (:

its prevention in a case of power lost, the battery can safe your notebook.
when updating either of them ec, vbios, bios , if power lost issue occur the notebook will end to dead state.
if there is battery installed it finish the process fine even if ac power has no power or have been disconencted

1: First time usage, do not start the notebook right away, but charge the battery FULL before turning the machine on.

Just out of curiousity do you have to reset the embedded controller after updating the embedded controller like you do with vbios and bios?
