MSI Z77A-GD65 does not work with seasonic X-750
« on: 02-April-12, 18:23:51 »

I've upgraded my system to Z77A-GD65 with 2600, and to my surprise my x-750 does not work with it, upon pressing the power button, the cpu fan blade just moves a few mm back and forth, and no POST

tried coolermaster M-1000 psu and it works, and everything boots up nicely, but the x-750 works on my older P8P67 B3 deluxe...

updated to A2 bios

anyone having the same problem??

  Very strange indeed. What else do you have in that system ? Did you use all the same components ?

yes, i used back all the same components

the only different components b4 the change to this Z77 is the motherboard.  asusp67deluxe vs this z77-gd65

i tried the x-750 on msi nf725gtm-p31 and it works OK on that board too!

very mysterious indeed

tried it on cardboard and the x-750 does not work but it works with M-1000

both board have the same standoff holes, because while the Z77 board is mounted inside the computer casing, tried with both PSU and again it works with M1000 but not with X750

Hi,

Are you saying that the 750w is not strong enough for the z77a board? I have a Corsair GS-700 and are having endless problems. System reboots alot even right at the BIOs screen.

i don't think so

i've set the board working in bare mode, meaning ram and cpu only, and it still won post with x750, but posts with m1000

i'm really confused now...

i've tried with gigabyte's  PoweRock 400W and it works too...

so, it doesn't work with seasonic x-750, but works with coolermaster realpower M1000 and also works with gigabyte's PowerRock 400w, but all the three psu works fine on asus p8p67 deluxe.

help me out guys.. what can i deduce out of this experiments/observations?

... that the Seasonic X-750 is not compatible with the Z77A-GD65 for reasons, that you should ask Seasonic about.

Hope it works with my Corsair AX750 build by Seasonic and almost identical to X750. Still waiting for the CPU to finally test the beasts.

I had a similar problem.
In the beginning the board with a new Be-quiet Pure Power300 W has worked one day, with strange resetting problems and BIOS errors but it has worked.
Then after a memory exchange, the Z77A-GD65 dit nothing more than a spinup and immediate spindown from the cpufan. NOTHING after that.

Then I changed the PSU with an older Chieftec reserver psu that I had for testing.
Now the mobo did start, only till I got code 55, but now at least it did something! Very strange.

Very strange.

Even without a Graphics Card 300W PSU might not be enough to power it up correctly, especially with a bequiet, i had one and it was the worst i ever had, when it broke i open it and voilà what a mess cables, components, tons of solder, what a waste. Try your system with a decent PSU and probably you will not have problems.

Nonsense. It's a perfect (80+) PSU for a 2600 without much harddisks and an extra videocard
Normally 300 Watt from a good PSU (not some chinese no-name crap) EASY is capable powering an 2600 cpu.

PSU is the heart of a system. As Noway77 says, the PSU needs to be of adequate quality and amps, not just watts being the only factor.
