X79A-GD65 (8D) BIOS Issues
« on: 11-May-12, 15:21:07 »

I am experiencing issues when trying to access the 'BROWSER' (Internet, Messaging and Mail) feature.

Everytime I click to access this feature the system seems to freeze, although the system shows changes in CPU/CASE Temps I am unable to move the mouse and the keyboard doesn't respond. Once this happens I have to reset by hitting the reset button as nothing else will respond.

I have Winki installed, directly onto my C:/ Drive (RAID0) 2x1TB Drives...

Can anyone assist or is anyone else experiencing the same problems?

Many thanks in advance.

I have tried using the search forum option but I'm not getting any results, I would have thought this was a known issue as I have read that others have the same problem but with no fix.

That's most likely the problem. If your mainboard came with the Software Application User Guide, Page 15, (downloadable version v1.5 available at the MSI Global Website), please read it. :rtfm: WINKI is covered rather well how to install & use it. Best I can tell, it will only work from the ODD or a USB stick.

First MSI was an 845G-Max. Since then, 975X-PUE, P6N SLI Platinum, P7N Diamond, P45 Platinum (3X), X58 Pro, X58 Pro-E, X58 Eclipse Plus (2X), X58A-GD65, X58 Big Bang XPower (2X), P67A-GD65(B2), P67A-GD65(B3), Z68A-GD80(B3), Z68A-GD80(G3) (3X), X79A-GD65(8D), & rounding it all out, X79 Big Bang XPower II. RAM of choice - Corsair. PSU of choice - Corsair. HDD's of choice - WD spinners. CPU cooler of choice - Zalman CNPS9900's. Graphics of choice - nVidia. Audio of choice - Creative PCI X-Fi Elite Pro or PCI-E X-Fi Champion. Optical burners of choice - Lite-On and LG. Platform of choice - Intel chipset based. Mainboard brand of choice - do you really have to wonder?

No RAID, No SSD's, No Win8 = No Problems!

Hi, have you a Direct Link to the Winki Manual as I can't find the one you have mentioned?

Many thanks in advance,

I've run Winki a couple of times in the past but only from the ODD or after installing on a USB stick. It's mainly for internet access and such when you don't have HDD installed with OS on it.
