Hi,

I've recently bought Z77MA-G43 MBO and proceeded to install Win8 x64 on it. Everything worked just fine for first 3-4h after which I have just lost audio. Not in a way that a device is no longer present but in a way that i doesn't recognize anything is plugged in (more on that a bit later). The device is listed as working properly. Only time I ever get some kind of 'action' from it is when I plug in my headphones (which work, and I have also tried plugging in the speakers) into line out (green) port. The speaker configuration remains unchanged but the microphone detects constant plugging in and out (like 2-3 times a second). I am 100% certain that I didn't damage the audio ports during installation or after.

Is there something else I can do (I've flashed BIOS to latest version, re installed Win8 and Win7, tried both MSI and Realtek drivers) or should I just go to the store and call for warranty?

Did this happen when you flashed the bios or suddenly?
Have you tried removing and reinstalling all of the front connector wires.

Disconnect the mic wire and see if the problem persists.

It happened before flashing. Just after one of many restarts as I was installing all the software I use on the machine. I have tried with front panel connected, without it, tried plugging in just mic, just audio, to no avail. I either get no response or that effect where it looks like I'm constantly plugging and unplugging the mic (and it's not even the mic that's connected but ordinary audio).

I'd take that as a clue, and start looking at the software side of things. Can you go backwards a step at a time or can't you remember the order you installed in?
Considered system restore?
