I have had this laptop for a couple of weeks and just realized the first time I actually went to use it for 3D that it was not switching over from the Intel graphics. No the power button does not turn to orange when when running any 3D app, but it does when changing settings in the NVidia settings preview. Yes it is plugged in.

I was going to reinstall drivers in the order of Intel, Nvidia, Physix as suggested on another forum, but the driver I have now is a later version that that available on MSI support and the one on MSI support is listed for the 670.

Any suggestions?

OK, being a dummy, I forgot to check the driver CD and yes it has the version I was looking for. The problem is, even after is installing the driver again, I still do not get the GTX working while using 3D graphics programs. This is crazy. I spent the big bucks to get the best GPU available and it isn't getting used. What do I do?

check in device manager if GTX675m driver is installed and running properly.

Everything installed OK. The power button does change color sometimes but does not stay orange for any 3D app.

your current BIOS & EC versions? look in bios setup system info.
also have you tried to load bios defaults and to retest?

I do not have the latest BIOS, I have 30C and the latest online is 30J. I guess I now have to figure out how to burn the ROM with something other than supplied because the util supplied to burn the BIOS will not work in x64. What is "EC"?

EC version should be written just below BIOS version.

Flash done successfully, EC reset, BIOS reset, no difference.

Ok, flash the EC to the latest version:

and do ec reset after the update.

what 3d applications you have tried?
have you test with 3dmark11?

I have tested with 3dmark11, Google Earth, Autodesk Inventor, and none of them use the GTX675. Sometimes the power button will change to range during some of the loading of 3dmark but always goes white during anything that renders 3d. The power button goes orange during the preview of 3d quality in the NVidia settings utility. This is getting frustrating.

Well then which ones do I try? It is my understanding that the only drivers that will install without hacking are the ones supplied by MSI on the driver CD. Do I hack the inf file to force verde drivers?. Do I hack the 670 driver inf?

OK, I installed the latest verde beta drivers using a hacked inf, no difference. Everything is up to date, nothing works. How can they release a notebook with no working video card driver?

Yes I did. I have now also tried Drivercleaner and Driversweeper. Nothing fixes this. Maybe it is time to do a total system recovery from the recovery partition and go through hours of installing my software again? I am afraid though that I will do all of that and end up with the same problem.

AND, I HATE THIS *!$^*&^$* KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called MSI support and talked to a CSR. His first responses wee to download the updated driver on the MSI support site. I had to argue with him for 2 minutes that there wasn't even a current driver available from MSI on the site to support the GTX675m and that the only one available was on my CD. He finally checked himself and came back after a few minutes with an FTP link to the latest driver. I did an uninstall of both the NVidia drivers, the Intel drivers, then ran Drivercleaner and Driversweeper, then installed the Intel drivers from the CD,rebooted, let Windows Update update the Intel drivers, reboot, installed the Nvidia driver, reboot, installed the Physix driver from the CD, rebooted, and then tested. No difference............... doesn't work.

i had the same problem yesterday.... my first day with my laptop :S, what i did is:

1.- Go to nvidia control panel.
2.- Set physX configuration and choose gtx675m
3.- do not uninstall anything
4.- http://www.msi.com/service/download/nbdriver-18358.html download, install and restart ur laptop
5.- put ur disc on and find ur video card driver (theres 2 of them only 1 will work) reinstall and restart ur laptop
6.- and finally just install http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.0213-driver.html and restart ur laptop

Hey guys! I see you're having trouble with games initializing the NVidia graphics card for your games. Have no fear! You can set the preferred card to use for your games! I Just figured this out after a painful run through the Renegade Ops campaign with my friends.

1. Open nvidia control pane
2. Go to manage 3d settings
3. under global settings, there is a drop down for the preferred graphics processor.
4. Choose High-performance nvidia processor
5. watch your friends eat their words for ever dissing gaming on a laptop

try reinstall OS, else seems something is wrong with your notebook and you have to send it back for repair/replacement.

A re-install from the recovery partition fixed the problem. I wish I did not have to do it but it did work.
