z77 mpower problems.
« on: 08-October-12, 09:21:15 »

Hello all

Just bought this board and I must say it is a good looking board.
I have a few issues.
1) The wireless adaptor does not work. I have installed latest drivers but it shows up in device manager as not active
2) I can not get my memory to run at 1600 mhz....every time i change it in bios it changes back to 1333 mhz after reboot......any one know what I am doing wrong?
3)  I successfully connected to my mobile via bluetooth but when i look in the folders for my pictures there are none there, any idea what this is caused by

thanks in advance.

Might try updating the UEFI/BIOS to the newest Beta found here;

So you enabled xmp and it worked, but when you re-booted, it was disabled?

What memory are you using?

tried manually setting it as well.....but in windows it shows 670 mhz as opposed to 800 mhz via cpu-z.

it is crucial balistics tactical 4x2gb in dual channel mode.

Do you have some different memory that you can test with?

Also, do a full cmos clear and retest: >>Clear CMOS Guide<<

Is this a matched 4 stick kit? Often even RAM with the same part number but mixed will not work correctly together for a number of reasons. With RAM showing it's running at 1340, there must be a slight OC in place? Maybe bclk up a step above 100?

it is 2 seperate sets of dual channel kits which ran in my Ga-Z68-UD7 without any issues......and my cpu is oc to 4.2 at the moment....memory changes in bios and says it is set at 1600mhz but boots and it has dropped down. Also noticed that my cpu frequency is at 100.5....cant see anywhere in bios to set it back to 100

Do you have some different memory that you can test with?

Also, for giggles test it with just 2 sticks installed in dimms 2 & 4

The CPU is being OC'd. The 100.5 bclk is fine.

If the bclk is set to 100, then you are getting a bit of a built in bonus boost.

Could you also post a screenshot of the CPU-Z SPD Tab please?

Go into bios, hit f6 for optimized defaults. Make sure OC Genie is disabled, and enable xmp everything else on auto and stock.
Change XMP in the regular section of bios no the "My Oc Genie" section.

well i just about given up here.....half the time you cant change the settings you want to change in bios because nothing happens when you click on something. after hours of messing around yesterday I decided to unistall all bios/control progs from windows in case it was those that were interfering with the settings i was putting into bios. Then could not find any where to disable oc genie as you said so I manually set cpu to 4.2 and memory to 1600 mhz. It booted up ok...ran a benchmark and memory was running at correct speed. Rebooted and now the memory is down to 670 mhz again.....anyone know what it is...does this board not like crucial memory....or maybe not like running 4 sticks of memory?

HELP! :)

Problem solved.

seem this board likes all rams to be members of the same dual channel kit. I removed one 4gb kit and immediatley the xmp profile button was accessable...now running at correct speed and in dual channel. :)

Yes, matched memory is essential, sometimes down to the same bacth of the same model.
