« on: 27-October-03, 15:48:36 »

system:
p4 2.4c
865pe neo2-ls
Kingmax ddr400 2x 256 dual channel ram ratio 1:1
Sapphire ati radeaon 9000 pro 128mb
350w power supply
westem digital 40gb hdd
winxp pro (no sp1)

when i overclock my fsb to 250, it dont boot, then i increase the ram voltage to 2.7v and ratio 5:4 (timing 2.5, 3, 3, 8.. not sure, have to go home check) and disable the overclocking mode, it can boot but the onboard sound doesn't work. Please help
another thing.... why my nb temp in corecenter always around 59-60 degree c? it very high compare to 36degree cpu temp and 38 system temp, is there somethings wrong?

your RAM can't take 250MHZ FSB 1:1. 5:4 is more practical setup. You must have forgotten to lock your AGP/PCI to 66/33 that's why you're losing sound.

Maesus is AGAIN 100% CORRECT, As to your question about the temp on the N-B, There are a lot of POSTS on this matter (DO A SEARCH) It has been VERIFIED THAT THERE IS NO TEMP. SENSOR ON THE i875 MO-BO (NO MATTER THE FLAVOR!) SO DO NOT MIND (DISREGARD) THE TEMP READING YOU ARE GETTING AS IT IS WRONG!! I myself did a temp. check with a infered temp gun, and the temps. where 110F UNDER LOAD( WITH FAN 100%) AND 90-94F AT IDEL. AMBIENT (room) TEMP 72F :-D)..Sean REILLY875

YES SET YOUR MEM. TO 333. And on the same page(FREQ+VOLTAGE), Set your AGP/PCI BUS SPEED TO AS CLOSE TO 66/33 as you can!! :-D)..Sean REILLY875

i dont want to update coz it may fried the bio.....
and about the ram frequency.... i using ddr400 ram, if set it to 333, whould it slower the ram?

It's been a while since I used 1.3, but you will see Adjust AGP/PCI clock. This will be greyed out, but you can highlight it and then hit the enter key to set it. You will not be able to get 66/33 exactly, just select the closed one. Do this after all other speed adjustments.

When you set your DRAM clock to 333, it actually runs at 320 when the FSB is set to 200 (this is a mathematical ration of 5:4). When you increase your FSB from 200 to 250 the DRAM clock changes in the same ratio: 320 x 250 / 200, giving 400. If you set it for 400 then it will actually run at 400 x 250 / 200, giving 500 which is way out of spec.

Is there anything you feel could be improved? If it's working, don't mess with it!

It is possible that your cpu or chipset cant handle the higher frequencies. In theory both the 865 and 2.4c are binned because thay couldn't handle top performance.  While most of them are capable of running as fast as the expensive parts, it doesn't mean that they all will.
BTW try increasing your cpu voltage a bit, but don't go too crazy as this can damage it.

problem solved  :-D)
i update bios 1.7 (lucky to surivie it) and increase agp/pci to 69/35 and i still get sound, i keep cpu voltage at 1.55v and ram at 2.75v
dont know which setting sove the problem.. but problem solved, thats the main thing
