has anyone removed the (loud) fan for the ti4400?
id like to know if its hard and what yoyu have pot there instead...

id also like ot know if the tv out works well with nvidias ref drivers as msi doesnt update too often...

Hold the card face up and pull the little plastic pin stuck in each holder, then flip the card over and gently push the larger pin out.

(I only did it out of interest, I put the cooler back after this).
The only replacement I know of so far is the thermaltake solution (cooler + RAMsink kit)
Unless you are serios and are willing to mod a socket370 cooler (which will block a PCI slot or two)

Hi,

I modified mine....to get a better picture quality.....
As it's lousy at 1280x1024@85Hz.....
If you're interrested, I can post how I did it.....
But you need to solder on the card.... :]

I am really surprised you write about importance to modify such video card. Could you explain what did you mean writing about bad image quality at resolution you have specified?

I have the same card so I am interested in it.

Hi,

Well the filters at the R-G-B lines are terrible.....
You won't see this in games, only when you do 2D things like surfing the net.....
I can't take the card out and show you, but they are easy to find......
If you flip the card to the back, you see 9c's and 6l's near the blue VGA connector.....
In rails of 3 all the time....
Use a ohm-meter to follow them from the vga connector....
You need to shorten the L's and remove the C's.....
The C's are all connected at 1 side to ground and the otherside to the R, G or B lines.....
It's like this:

VGA-R - C-to-ground - coil - C-to-ground - coil - C-to-ground.....

The pins used for this on the VGA connector are:

1-Red
2-Green
3-Blue

And this three times to get RGB....

I hope this helps a bit....

Yes I did.....
And I had the same blurry screen with the GF4Ti4600....
nVidia designs lousy filters.... ;(
The bandwith of the filters is way too narrow, that is why this happens at high-resolutions with high refreshrates.....

As most people running 1024x768 and only running games at higher resolutions, nobody will notice....

I even wrote to PCM (Belgium) about the problem, they saw it but never ever wrote an article about it.....
Darn, those magazines are getting worse everyday.....

I have made a picture (partly because of the resolution needed) of my GF4Ti4600....

You can get it at my server it could be exactly the same for all others, but you need to measure that for yourself.....

well i dont want the tt fan i want like a large sing...

bas when u had ya card out couldnt u have taken a few shots of the sink mod as well ???

so this quality mod u did... i got a ti4400 at 1600@75hz
i gues i could bennefit from this as well. What is it i am removing/shortening? are they the capacistors? what is the filter doing realy? doesnt the dac give fine signals ???

Hi,

See the top message of this forum for photo's....

Yes it's the DAC that produces the pictures, BUT the output of the DAC has filters to reduce the number of unwanted components at the VGA connector....
The problem is that this filters cut's off too soon, therefor the picture quality get's blurry at high resolutions....
Without the filters, the quality is way better upto the point that you can call it allmost Matrox quality....

You need to remove 9 capicitors and shorten 6 coils to remove the filter....
