didnt find any probs to set any memory timming which i want. all work correcctly. but nede to folow some recoomended setings in readme also.

about this in your post link:
"This problem is infuriating me coz i have had to replave valueselect 2x512mb corsair ram with ocz platinum el 2x512mb because the cas for the corsair had to be 3 but the ocz is 2-2-2-5"
Curently i use 2x256 Twinx Corsair no prob to set 2-2-2-x(in my case 10) all work corectly with impresive perfomance. passed all stress tests

CPU is Mobil Barton 2400+

hello. what more info want? i've tested 2x512 knigston value ram 3200 3.0,3,3,8 and with kingston value Dual KIT didt find any probs. reached without problems 218FSB - rock solied stable FSB(1:1 of course). make sure that you have not malfuction RAM. test it one bank 1st alone then other bank alone. use memtest for beggining. select test N5 make sure to pass 10-12 times without error.

there is other way to update BIOS using dedicated partition or boot from alternative CD-ROM or Flash RAM.
so your comp is fine with B3 but with B5 you got problems right?

Added FSB on the Fly to be Visible
Added DDR400 Patch   to be Visible

What do these actually do? esp ddr400patch?

and can you confirm you need dot on at least private to be stable even when trying to overclock fsb>200?

Bosskiller told me before; "DDR 400 patch must be set to Disable. if it is Enabled (that's is by default) gives legion of memory errors of all kind of memory. Disable this setting fix memory errors".

As for fsb on fly; when you change fsb in bios you can't see the change until you save and reboot; I think this patch makes it visible immediately.

BOSSKILLER HELP

Can you tell me what questions i must ask myself to find out if i want to go from b5 to b62?

And can you shed any light on: in what way it is more stable other than being able to disable ddr400 patch?

I take it the word is disable ddr400 patch?

I have already accessed the extra options with shift+f2 and alt+f3 so what more stability would i gain?

And i would like bosskiller's own opinion if i am tryinf for 220+fsb's should i really have DOT @ 1 or 3%?

Fixed holding "INS" key during powerup to reset CMOS settings to deafault.

Bleh!  :-P)
What versions of BIOS was that broken in?

I am/was looking to flash up my bios after my system is stable (see whole other tread in Motherboard area)

What bios should I be aiming for (greatest stablity with few-no bugs) Should I just stay at baseline??

ok using B62 now and running prime95

So far great, right now cpu at 12x202 mhz @ 1.75v and DDR @ CAS 2.5-3-3-8 - 2.7v

Question: Is the CPU temp reading +10 instead of normal?  Cause using external probe it says 46-47c, while on MSI CoreCenter reads 58c?

Touched the heatsink near the cpu almost feels warm, but not enough for 58c

Any feedback guys?

:noidea:

temp reading is fine.
use speedfan for most actual results.
curently using Mobil Bartona 2400+
running at 11.5x205 = 2357Mhz at 1.825Vcore full load max temp 56C using ThermalTake Volcano 12

Hi Bosskiller,

does your mod add the missing CPU multilier in the Cell menu?

My problem is the following:
I'm using  an Athlon XP Barton 2800, FSB 266 with multiplier 16x (device number "AXDA 2800 DKV4C").
Now I want to run this CPU with a multiplier of 13x or 14x, but these are not available in the bios. I tried
several multis and what I get is that 7x behaves like 15x and 7.5x like 15.5x and so on. (as it is seen in the
table on this page http://fab51.com/cpu/barton/athlon-e20.html)

It seems that only the lower half of multipliers is implemented in the original bios.
So I need  the missing multipliers 5x and 6x from the lower half (that should result in 13x and 14x).

hmm well.. maybe CPU is locked? multipliers is aveilable in cell menu 13x,13.5.
if CPU cannot run on this multiplers too much Mhz or CPU is locked.
there is no changes in multipliers in BIOS based to original. but multipliers is there.

No, the CPU is not locked. The standard multiplier is 16x and I can switch to 15x ot 17x
by choosing 7x or 9x in the Cell menu.
There are 5 bits determining the multiplier and I think that the highest bit is always set to 0.
This would mean that I cannot use 13x from Cell menu, but I have to use 5x and 6x that
should result in 13x and 14x.

hi,sorry for my english; but i think the problem with this mobo is the "row cycle time" when i change the option in bios "high perfomance mode" to manual   only that, the row cycle time change to 10 and the value in optimized is 11 and the other options renains without changes, thats is normal? i think is the problem.

not big differents between B61 and B71. only few changes that's isnt important. MSI is trying to make stable this board by sacrifice the performance of mobo. few timmings are increased for better stability. not any changes in general. if some one wana test it let me know.

Hi

Id like a bit of advise as to why my Tztec pc3200/400 2x1gb sticks fail to boot on my board but will boot on an older KT4v no probs

All are brand new and as yet no OC has taken place, power comes on but d bracket hangs on "memory" and blank screen.

Any advice would be very helpfull as ive had to switch to 2x512 pc2700/333 and the reason i bought the board was to use 400!!!

Am i missing something simple?

Rgds

Hi all,
I just bought new MSI K7N2 Platinum board to replace my old Soltek KT133 mobo. Unfortunately new board isnt very stable with Geil value RAM. Although I can boot to win without any problems, Prime gives me an error right after few seconds run. After reading this thread I have new hope to solve this issue. Bosskiller, can you send me your modified bios?

Hi Everybody from Türkiye!!!

Is your modded BIOS fully stable? :confused2:
I always think two times before doing these kind of mod....
Now using Official B5 bios and I think it is not stable...

Stability is more important than performance for me...

If you think it is better to use your bios for more stable world, just send me your bios's latest version...

Thank You BOSSKILLER!!!

I think that the bios B6.2 made by bosskiller is better, juste one think, did you turn on the dot on 1% ? beacause this motherboard is not ok without dot enable when you are in manuel, the pc freeze and reboot whithout.
