Please read - Forum posting guidelines
This is the guidelines on how to post your issue in the forum to allow other users and the mods to help you promptly. Below are the three items you should practise when posting any new topic if you have an issue that needs others to help to solve.
1. start with a good TOPIC
Please include the product name, model SKUs in the topic, and follow by a short summary of your problem, which other users can straight-away have the overall idea of the issue you're having. Here are some examples:
Good examples:
"875P Neo-FIS2R unable to detect LAN"
"865PE Neo2-LS hang at POST, D-LED - RGRG"
bad examples:
"875P problem"
"865 temperature"
"failed to boot"
"my board died"
2. give full description of your system configuration
This is very important so we can have the overall picture of your system. The fundamental details should include
-CPU speed, FSB speed and OC speed which you always run if you OC, also include whether HT is enabled or not.
-RAM, the timing and the OC timing which you always run,
-exact motherboard model,
-display card, if u OC include the info as well
-PSU, power supply unit, brand and model, even better to include the exact wattage of all +3.3V, +5V and 12V rails
-HDDs, CDROMs and which ports you plug them in
-other PCI cards and which slots you plug them in
-other peripherals like USB, 1394 devices which you plug them in and create the issue
-BIOS settings which you changed from the default values, such as enable/disable some built-in devices, ACPI, etc
-OS, with service pack
Good example:
P4 2.40C @ FSB 275 = 3.3GHz, HT enabled
Samsung DDR400 2-2-2-5 @ 400:333
865PE Neo2-FIS2R
MSI FX5900-TD128 no OC
Antec Truepower 500W
Western Digital Raptor 36GB x 2 @ SATA-1 and SATA-2, no RAID
BIOS - optimal settings + FSB275, enable USB, 1394 and ACPI.
WinXP + SP1 + all latest Windows Updates
Bad example:
P4 2.4Ghz, DDR400, 865PE, WinXP SP1.
3. Describe your problem and give steps how to reproduce it
Give a problem statement. This is very important too as we want to know your problem and how you manage to reproduce it. If the problem is not reproducable, then describe what you see with your problem, such as the error message, the STOP codes. Also describe what software/application you run with and it creates much frequent problem you faced. It doesn't have to be lengthy but the readers can understand your problem easily.
Good example:
875P Neo-FIS2R unable to detect LAN. BIOS has onboard LAN enabled. LAN cable has plugged in and the LEDs are blinking. Boot to WinXP, device manager shows yellow bang with "Ethernet Driver". Have tried install with Intel Gigabit LAN drivers from MSI CD, and also downloaded from MSI website (driver version x.xx.xxx) and Intel website (version x.xx.xxx), but still could not get the driver installed. The LAN cable has been tested on other system and it works. I've tried to plug in a PCI LAN card and it works. I disable the LAN in the BIOS and WinXP does not detect it anymore. I've tried clean up the HDD and reinstall the OS but still the same issue. Please help!
bad example:
My LAN does not work no matter what I have tried! Please help!
Of course, if you don't have any problem or issue, but would like to ask some informative question, or have some interesting topic to share with, again, write a good topic and describe it thoroughly in more details. This would help.
Other guidelines are:
1. Try not to hijack other people's topic
2. Don't start the same topic all over again if someone has already started one and the follow-up thread is still very short
3. If you have the same or similar problem with existing topic, again, reply with your own sets of system configs and problem description.
4. Give everyone the time for reply. You may not always get the right answer to solve your problem, please be patient. If it's serious, the mods will escalate to MSI and again, be patient to wait for their replies.
5. Forum rules are still to be followed. Read more here
