Author Topic: i have a msi 760 gma p-34 (fx) motherboard trying to unlock 6 core in bios  (Read 118 times)

I'm attempting to unlock the 6 core in my bios I'm running a amd phenom II x4 820 processor and according to the site I should be able to unlock and use 6 cores by unlocking my cores in bios any help would be appreciated

No, that is not possible. Phenom II X4 820 is based on Deneb core which is a native quadcore cpu. There is is no 5th or 6th core to be unlocked as there physically is no further core. Only Athlon II or Phenom II based on Thuban core could theoretically unlock up to six cores as they are physically six core cpus (with cores disabled beacuse of defect or for marketing reasons). On your cpu it might be possible to enable extra 2 MB of L3 cache (what won't make much performance difference). Check if there is an ACC option in bios. On this low-end board there might not be such an option.
