Loud fan in AIO Gaming 24 6QU 4K
« on: 18-March-17, 07:49:35 »

I have just purchased AIO 24 6QU and I am annoyed by fan working loudly all the time - whether I use computer or leave it idle. It is so noisy that I couldn't get asleep in the same room! Moreover it used to constantly change speed up and down sounding like a strong wind. It drives me crazy! I have read there is MSI Gaming App which can be used to set Silent Mode but id seems incompatible with my hardware. The tool I got with my AIO is MSI Gaming Centre which is damn basic only showing sound, video and network settings.

Any idea what can I do to make this fan quiet? I do not really need full CPU/GPU speed when browsing internet.

run task manager and check CPU usage %, you can sort it by CPU usage
and check what app is using the CPU and how high is the CPU usage at idle

I did it both by Task Manager and Gaming Center - both showing one-digit (1%-3%) CPU utilization (by the way - same with disk, network etc.). I would expect low rotation speed of the fan - if not being off.
Does anyone has an idea what fan is mounted in? If I rotation speed in not managed properly maybe I should consider replacing it with something more quiet.

Thanks for the link. Works well.

BIOS Version: EAEA2IMS.810
Build date: 07/20/2016

There is no way to adjust fan speed in BIOS.
BIOS Hardware Monitor shows fun speed (current) 3600 RPM and CPU temp. 63

Maybe it is the smart fan function for protect the CPU and saving power.
The smart fan function has different fan curve for different loading (CPU tempurature.).

If it is always loud, please contact MSI RMA for the warranty service.
