Intel ME FW Update Tool Help Me
« on: 07-December-17, 07:19:19 »

Hi,

I have a  GE73VR 7RF(Raider)

I have updated the bios to the last version E17C1IMS.102 and then i tried to correct the i7 vulnerability with the tool.

I ran ME118H.bat in admin mode and got the message :

Error 8719: Firmware update cannot be initiated because Local Firmware update is disabled

What i need to do ?

Thanks,

All you guys.... reset bios settings to default and try again.

If you have raid set up, set as ACHI.

I do not know why, but this is the workaround.

I have raid, if i set as ACHI i don't enter on windows...i need to install in another disc the windows only to perform the update?

Hi. You have to allow from bios to update the bios. You dont have to change anything. Do not change from ahci to ide or legacy because you brake down the windows. Only give permision from bios to let you to update the bios.

Hi, can you be more detailed? I tried many times updating it but came with the same error "Error 8719: Firmware Update cannot be initiated because Local Firmware update is disabled"

I flashed the BIOS to the latest one, reset the BIOS to default settings as per the installation guide but still nothing.

I have a GS63VR 7RF.

I have the same problem with GE73VR 7RE.

Updated info from MSI:
Quote
If you have "Error 8719:Firmware update cannot be initiated because Local Firmware update is disabled." after running the ME Update tool, there will be new BIOS release to solve the problem. New BIOS will be released right away once finished testing. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We probably have to wait for the new Bios.

EDIT:
OK, check the support page:
https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GE73VR-7RE-Raider#down-bios

You will find a new BIOS there: version E17C1IMS.104
Release Date 2017-08-04 is wrong.

Flash new BIOS and next use Intel ME FW Update Tool.
It's OK for me.

After updating the bios, I was still having problems. On a whim I did a clean boot into Windows, and, viola, the update went through.

There's no configuration on bios to permit ME Firmware.

Hi, do you have the latest BIOS? To run Intel ME update, you will need to update BIOS first.
