Might be software bug. I'd suggest you contact MSI about it: >>How to contact MSI.<<

that support method doesn't seem to be working

bit like msi's driver & update system... crashes at will

my suggestion to anyone having these issues is, if you get a chance to get out from under this board... take it.

yes liveupdate seems its not up to date
you can use latest one from msi web for your board,
and use M-Flash to flash it

Ok - just fyi, same here :
- Using MSI Live Update 6.2.0.07, downloaded yesterday to give it a try.
- Updated my BIOS (mb = z170A gaming M5) from v1.1 to v1.A0 (big update :) ).

That went well but I was surprised to see that live update only proposed an update up to 1.A, given that I see a few other BIOS updates on MSI website for the z170A gaming M5. When I ran live update once more it said I was up to date for that bios version so it's like it does not see the latest updates that have been posted on the support site.

@LoneWorg

Can you check Chipset (if it shows Z170 or Z270) displayed under "Board Explorer"? If it is Z270, can you post screenshot please? (And create new thread then).

Ok Nichrome will do (and edit this post at the same time). But just so you know, before reading your post, I just updated my BIOS to the latest version (1.D0) using m-flash. Went well. I opened Live Update 6 to run it and see what it said about my MB BIOS version, and it states 1.D0 now (so it was able to read the version of my MB correctly despite the fact that it was not aware of this latest version).
Now, gonna check on the board explorer in the bios and take a pic.

[ps : and thanks for the username update ;) ]

[EDIT]

Done. I posted the pictures in a new thread :  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=282359.msg1600479#msg1600479

Oh yes. Some MSI software gets, sometimes, false positives. I wouldn't worry about it. There was a time when basic calculator ( + - / * ) I did in C++ was detected as Trojan ;D
But you may contact MSI about it: >>How to contact MSI.<<

Hello everyone

I recently downloaded the live Update 6 Software to my PC, in oder to update the Bios of my PH61A-P35 (B3) to the newest Version, hoping it would allow me to use my new MSI Gaming RX 480 8GB Card. Currently slotting the Card into the PC seems to prevent the System from booting. I read in some posts that updating might help.

So Live update 6 Scans my mother board and tells me Version 1.7 is the newest (updating, does not help with the RX 480),  though it seems there are newer (ME8) Versions out. My question now: Are they save to use (never did a "Manual" update), and is there a reason Live Update 6 is not offering/finding them? Oh and of course, will updating help with my Problem at all, or am I just wasting time?

Hope I posted this in the correct thread.

I tried to update the BIOS on my Z270 Gaming M7 motherboard using Live Update and the screen went black and the system never returned. Two hours later, after trying to move the mouse and press keys to no avail, I turned off the power and it will not reboot giving a code 0d on the LED. So, Live update cannot update the BIOS on Win 10 x64 apparently???

How do I recover my system from this when I cannot get to BIOS Setup?

Thanks

@cpdowell
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z270-GAMING-M7.html#down-manual
Download the manual, and proceed using BIOS Flashback (Page 54).

I don't know if this is glitchy but why am I getting an option to downgrade the BIOS in live update? (B150 Gaming M3)

It is most likely out of date (database that LU6 uses to check for updates).

Hey!

I've been having issues for a little while now with the Live Update app. There's a new update for my Intel ME Drivers (11.6.0.1036) but for some reason it won't install (or at least Live Update says it isn't installed). I've tried updating it automatically from the app and manually as well though Live Update still says there's a new update available.

Here's a screenshot:

Any idea how to fix this and install the new driver? Is there any downside to not installing the driver?

Thanks.

Hi

Go to your product page ( find it at www.msi.com ), and download the driver manually.
For this you might also need to update BIOS, as version within BIOS must match the one installed in Windows.
I will continue to say: LU is not worth the risk. Good to check if there is an update, but update things manually.

Got the same issue here. Just updated to LU 6.2 still broken. Been broken for 6 months. Not much help from MSI so far.

Thanks for your reply. I have already tried a manual install, and I'm pretty sure I have the latest BIOS installed too but I'll have another look. I just find it odd that there's no error message or anything. It says it installed correctly but still shows as not updated. Is there somewhere in Program Files or something where I can check the version of the drivers manually?

Hello, I have recently built I new PC with the Gaming M3 motherboard, Everything was working fine until I used live update 6 to download and install the latest updates. Once they were finished I was asked to restart my computer, Once that was finished everything looked to be fine but I couldn't move my mouse hear anything from my headphones or type in my password, The LED's on my keyboard would turn on but once I was booted up into windows they shutoff and none of my USB devices are working. They just won't work once booted up into windows. I have tried unplugging the devices and plugging them back in but they still wont work. I really don't reinstall windows just because of some USB updates.

You could try booting into safe mode, and removing all drivers that were installed/updated by LU6. Then install those manually, downloading from product page found at www.msi.com

just ran the very latest bios update and now the PC will not boot at all mmm tried taking out the bois battery and shorting out the pins to reset the bios and nothing, the
machine will not boot, F**K Sake also now i find out that this chip does not support 4 sticks of 8GB Ram at 2666Mhz only 2 16GB total and if you want 32GB its 2 x 16GB sticks only. but that is the least of my issues now as this machine will not freaking boot at all, why did MSI and AMD release these products in this state, If this was a car it would not be allowed on the road.

OK, So I have managed to get into windows by going into windows 7 installation mode. So I could use my keyboard/mouse but once in razer synapse it doesn't show my product or in CUE. I tried going in windows Safe Mode (Does not Work) :( I tried reinstalling drivers for the mouse and keyboard it didnt help, Looks like anything that is using USB is not working in normal windows.. I currently have all MSI drivers installed except the optional Google ones. In summary USB devices start working only when in WIndows installation mode but the drivers for these USB devices don't recognise them (Razer Synapse Corsair Drivers). I would like any suggestion to help me, Thanks :) if this is the wrong place to post this please direct me to where I could find help.

Hello Everyone,

Was wondering if anyone else was seeing this. Since the latest version of live update 6, my installation of Intel wifi Drivers (*version 19.20.0000.5007) seams to just not want to install. It downloads successfully, the prompt changes to "install Intel WIFI Drivers now ... Please wait" and then nothing. I left it in this state for 8 hours, came back and the prompt was still please wait. I force the program to close, restart the PC, run another MSI live update scan, and its still listed as requiring an update.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Does the WLAN work? If so, then I wouldn't worry about it. Live Update is buggy. The motherboard's support website still has a April 2015 driver listed (18.40.0000.4009) as newest.

Hi,

My Liveupdate keeps showing AMD CHIPSET Current version (9.0.000.8) Online Version (16.50.2601)
I have downloaded the drivers from the site and from live update and installed but still shows that Version 9 is installed.

Please help

LiveUpdate tells me my Bios is up to date, but i got version H.10 on my tomahawk b350 arctic.
MSI Support Page tells me H.1 was release more than 1 month ago and 1.34 is the newest version.

Since a week I'm getting this notification when Live Update asks to scan for updates.
I'm connected to the internet and I've reinstalled the software. But there seems to be another issue. Maybe with the server?

Does someone has an idea?

I'm to lazy to check manually every now and then...

Isn't it the whole point of the software that it does that for you?

For the most part you don't really need to check that often. Its sort of like BIOS updates. While they may fix issues, if you don't have issues it may be best not to update.

The only thing that you should update frequently is GPU drivers.

MSI Live Update is a great in theory, but unfortunately, it fails to deliver and actually can cause problems (especially Windows based BIOS updating).

From a point of view of a security professional this feels just wrong.

Updates are often to fix security breaches and not updating is like leaving the door open.

It's not like outdated LED software will get hackers to your PC..

Hello all.
So I have this: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P -- AMD 970
and MSI Live 6 came installed on my PC. I have only have my PC for about a year. Never really noticed when Live Update stopped working, but every time I turn my computer on it says "The platform does not support this application."
Is there anything I can do about this to actually get Live working? Should I even bother to use it?? I have tried looking through the Support Center and can only get so far.
Anything helps. Thanks!

MSI LiveUpdate is for MSI products only. I don't know why it was installed on a computer without a MSI motherboard, but it serves no purpose on the computer. Find updates to your motherboard on the Gigabyte support website.

last time i looked at Live Update 6 they had moved the BIOS update to a separate tab in the software near the end where the <> is to scroll through the options! did it not see it there or did it not see it at all?

I am having the same issue as naki68er, updated to the new gaming app and my computer became super sluggish. CPU usage went up to 97%. makes computer horrible to use. Once I went to task manager and ended task on gaming app cpu usage went down to 3% and my PC went back to normal.

Same here. Tried to uninstall everything and clean - that did not help. Went back to previous version of gaming app.
