Title: R9 270X 2G Gaming - No screen and fans not spinning
Post by: mensenjh on 10-November-14, 21:41:10
I replaced my AMD Radeon HD5570 Silent with a Radeon R9 270X 2G Gaming. I made sure the card clicked into place.

My motherboard is Gigabyte X58 GPU rev2.

After replacing the GPU and booting up the PC the screen remains black (I tried DVI-I and DVI-D); I also notice no movement of the fans as if it is completely dead. Is my card broken or can it be something else?

If even fans won't move it looks like card is dead. Is it connected to the psu correctly?

OK, I realize I am ever more noob than I imagined. the instructions that came with the card just told to push the card in and take it from there. I now learnt I need to actually plug in 2 PCIe power cables. It seems that the company that built my kit didnt provide redundant cables to connect to. Since my power unit is a Silent Pro 500W the foundation should be solid. I will look for more info on how to equip my unit with the correct cables.

Ok, Silent Pro 500 shouldn't be modular so PCI-E power connectors should be there. If the psu is Silent Pro 500M (modular) demand all cables that came with the psu from the company that sold the machine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I bought this machine some 4 years ago. I realize that I did receive some separate cables in the boxes. No idea what I did with that. I checked and 6pin cables cost 6 EUR a pop. I can live with that. Case closed.
