Could you provide specific information on what cards are in what ports and what ports you tried?

Have you tried booting into the BIOS and using board explorer to see how things are configured?

Well, given all the testing you've done, it pretty much confirms that the motherboard and motherboard slots are just fine.

It would appear to me that there's a problem with the BIOS on the Godlike then that is causing that sound card to not work.

Do you happen to have the on-board sound disabled?

What I would do is contact MSI directly about this issue.  >>How to contact MSI.<< (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=107326.0)

You install win8 and win10 on which HDD? Is it on the M.2?
And latest bios 1.4, did you give it a try?

eldritch : I received word from my MSI contact that they were able to reproduce the issue and have some further questions they would like answered.

And  please help to check with user:
1.           Did you install windows 10 using UEFI mode?
2.           When you mentioned "click" then the blue screen appear,   do you mean to say that you will heard a “CLICK” sound coming
From sound card and then the BLUE SCREEN will occur??
3.           Will you see the BLUE SCREEN issue every time when you boot up the system using the Asus Essence STX II sound card?
4.           Can you try to remove M.2 and 1 VGA and see if it helps?
5.           Did you build RAID using the 2 SSD that you got??   If not, could you try to remove one SSD first?

it seems that this sound card got compatibility issues with different X99 motherboard manufacturer, you could
also try check to call Asus for help

My MSI contact got back to me again last night and basically said it appears to be an incompatibility problem between the NVidia drivers and the Asus drivers......His suggestion was to either switch to an AMD card or switch to a different audio card.

His email pasted below:

Test config:

MB:X99A GODLIKE GAMING(7883-010)

CPU:i7-5930K

RAM: Patriot PSD44G240081 2400MHz 4GB

VGA: GTX 980 GAMING 4G*2 (PCIe 1)  / AMD R7 370 gaming 2G (PCIe 1)
HDD: Hitachi  HDS723030ALA640(With OS)
Sound Card: ASUS Essence STX II (PCIe5)
BIOS:E7883IMS.120
OS:win10-64bit

Test result:
Tested with GTX 980 GAMING 4G connected with ASUS sound card, after installing Asus sound card driver and reboot the system, we would immediately get the Blue Screen Message(WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR).
After BSOD occurs, the sound card driver can’t be installed(tested several times…). There seems several threads on the internet saying that sound card driver has some conflicts with the NVIDIA graphic card driver.(Refering to: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=359381 (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=359381)).

We then tested with AMD R7 370 gaming 2G, installing Asus sound card driver, it seems that the first time installing sound card driver and reboot, we would get BSOD messages. And this would cause system automatically reboot 3 times to get into window. After successfully boot into windows we find the sound card device lose its driver and we will need to reinstall sound card driver once again and reboot. After sound driver is installed successfully, we test the system by reboot 50 times and didn’t see any BSOD error.

Conclusion:
We think that the BSOD issue is caused by ASUS sound card driver compatibility issue.
So maybe we could suggest the user change to another sound card or change to AMD VGA cards to solve this problem?

AMD VGA card will see BSOD when installing the Audio driver but the BSOD seems to go away after that,
It will be easier for user to change the Audio card instead J
