Title: MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC 4GB latest vBIOS II
Post by: nick-sydenham on 12-January-19, 11:51:00
Hi - I have the same card with the same issue, the fan will not go below 45% and is incredibly noisy.  Does anyone have a solution?

Next time open your own thread. This time I split your post off.

Add S/N and a copy of the current vbios saved to file.

You are using vbios version NV809MH0.7P0. It is the latest already. There is no other vbios to update.

So there is no way to reduce the fan speed and hence the noise level.  Why would anyone design a £150 graphics card with a cheap fan that can't be controlled?

GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC 4GB is the entry level GTX 1050 Ti from MSI. If you want a silence card buy a gaming model.

This is the  tech spec for the card:

INNOVATIVE GRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY FOR EVERY GAMER
Turn your PC into a true gaming rig with the fast, powerful GeForce GTX 1050Ti, powered by NVIDIA Pascal the most advanced GPU architecture ever created. With a Boosted Clock of 1455MHz and DirectX12 Ready you will be able to take on any game with ease. It’s loaded with innovative NVIDIA Game Ready technologies that let every gamer experience the latest titles in their full glory.

It uses Gamer/Game four times so kind of negates your rather unhelpful point + two four pin fans would have cost about £3 representing 2% of the total cost of the card.  I'm either going to return it or invalidate my warranty and remove the fans and replace them with two four pin fans and work out a curve to minimise noise and keep the card temp to below 23C at idle and 53C under load.  Should I have to do this for a product costing £150?  I don't think so.

:rolleyes_anim:  The card is obviously no GAMING series model but a basic model.  That you can use it for gaming doesn't mean it is a GAMING series model which is MSI's premium lineup. It is a value for money product with a foucs on making a low price possible. It should be quite obvious that the Gaming model can be silent because of way more effort and costs on the cooler.

Fixed the issue and it cost me £6, thank god I have my almost silent (in idle) computer back.  The cooling solution for the card should have been designed better in the first place.  To be honest I have found the support response in this forum pretty poor and particularly unhelpful.
