Title: WE72 7RJ NVMe M.2 SSD performance
Post by: nikolic9 on 19-June-19, 08:38:09
Hello All

I have purchased WE72 7RJ back in 2017. It came with a built-in 512GB SSD- as per nominal specs NVMe M.2 SSD by PCIe Gen3 X4 up to 2200MB/s speed.

Recently I added a 1TB SATA Samsung SSD 860 EVO (replacing a HDD I used before). From what I know the pre-existing NVMe M.2 SSD should be substantially faster than the new SATA SSD, but it is completely opposite.

Another party's benchmark software registers similar performance differences.

Any ideas what am I missing - the knowledge/awareness of different truth or driver (none found at Samsung) and presumably the system out of box is expected to run with the best possible drivers or...?

Additionally (non-essential), Samsung Magician is "saying" that it is not supporting own brand's NVMe M.2 SSD product. Any ideas why is that and if it can be fixed (perhaps enabling RAPID mode performance improvements)?

Thanks
