1. No BIOS file shows up in M-Flash
Only FOLDERS show up in the M-Flash menu on both FAT and NTFS format
I have followed the website's instructions and copied the BIOS folder to root of drive.

2. Only the Click Bios 5 page shows on powerup.
System will not boot a USB stick, nor a NVMe drive added to motherboard
Both these items boot other machines perfectly well
BIOS was set back to defaults using the CMOS button
Click Bios page shows all the expected information correctly
Boot option shows and allows the selection of the boot device
Booting without memory results in the four beebs as expected. This shows the sounder is working
Booting with memory as described above the sounder does not sound at all. Once POST Beep is enabled, then the normal single beep is heard.
In the 10s of PCs I've build over the years, never had a problem like this
PSU is Corsair VS450, and has only 24pin and 8 pin power connectors
Thus, on motherboard CPU_PWR2 is not connected. Is this a problem?

There is currently no OS installed, thus I cannot use Live Update.
AND, I intend to use Ubuntu Linux

Your advice is welcome.
I don't know whether this is a CPU or Motherboard fault.
And I don't have way of testing by substitution

Most of MSI's boards require the following (without looking at your specific board's instructions):

1. The USB drive must FAT32 formatted.
2. The UEFI/BIOS updates must be unzipped from their archive and posted on the root of said USB drive.
3. Reboot the computer, go into the UEFI/BIOS (probably with the delete key).
4. Go into MFlash to update the UEFI/BIOS (from the front page UEFI).
5. The computer will reboot, going into flash mode.
6. You then can choose the file (from the USB) to apply.

As said, this is from two different MSI boards in my house, neither of which is your specific model. Further info = the MSI website's site instructions for both of my boards aren't accurate to the above instructions. :)

Thank you for taking the time to write this: Your mention of FAT32 triggered my realisation that I'd chosen the default from Windows 10 formating, which is FAT
That enabled me to see the latest bios file in the M-Flash menu and succesfully upgrade to 7B79vH6

However, the BIOS upgrade hasn't solved my second problem...
I've discovered now that I can only boot from the Boot Override menu items on the Save & Exit menu.
The Flash drive and/or the NVMe drive all appear in the normal boot options, but are never actioned on reboot.

So, both a Windows 10 media creation USB, or Ubuntu 20.04.1 USB and the fitted NVMe drive can all be booted once I select them from the Boot Override menu,
once the PC has booted into Click BIOS 5 first.

This is of course not the intended nor desired mode of operation!!
(Never happened to me on ASUS Motherboards)

I'll keep investigating!
Failing that I'll return the MB to Amazon.

Time to throw out random ideas, try them as you wish. (And, you're welcome.)

1. Some drives, even NVMe ones, can not be booted if the drive is set in"raid" mode. Some drive / board combinations require legacy mode to work. And, ultimately, some drives simply won't work with some boards. (The latter is rare, but it does happen.) This can even happen if the drive can be booted to manually, but not automatically. (See 2.)

2. Regarding USB booting,100% confirm that your board doesn't have an option set to "disabled" for USB (external device) booting. Many corporate customers will purposefully disable USB booting, and even USB headers entirely, for security purposes. This setting may be set for your NVMe drive too.

The above can definitely be true considering your (now) successful BIOS upgrade. Post upgrade, almost any/all options you initially chose in the BIOS were likely changed back to their defaults.
