CPU Fan Operation Issue with MSI Pro DP21 13M-848RU
We purchased a MSI Pro DP21 13M-848RU, Intel Core i3 13100, DDR4 16ГБ, 512ГБ(SSD), Intel UHD Graphics 730, Windows 11 Pro, [9s6-b0a421-848] Nettop for our company, featuring:
Issue Description:
When the computer is idle (screen sleep set to 15 minutes of inactivity), after a period of 30 minutes to 2 hours, the fan suddenly spins up to 100% speed, then gradually decreases back to normal levels.
Troubleshooting Performed:
  • Checked CPU temperature using monitoring system - 40°C
  • CPU usage was 0-1% at the time

  • Performed stress test:
    • At 100% load, temperature did not exceed 78°C
    • Fan speed was at 57%
Additional Observations:
  • The issue does not occur when the computer is in use (any activity)
  • Problem is present only during idle periods as described
  • Windows 11 Pro 23H2 - no issue
  • Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (both upgrade and clean install) - issue appears
Note: The problem is clearly related to the specific Windows version update to 24H2, as it only manifests after upgrading or installing this version of the operating system.

We have three such computers in total, one of them with an i5 processor, and they all have the same issues. They were purchased at different times.

I’ve been observing the problem since February 27, 2025. I contacted technical support in February, and they said they would forward the information to headquarters. I don’t know if this information reached MSI headquarters, so I request a response from official representatives.

I’m using a translation tool to communicate, as English is not my first language. Please excuse any potential mistakes in my writing.

Maybe some applications are open at background.
Please modify all item to disable in "Startup" sheet in task manager under Windows OS for checking.

Thank you for your response. However, I would like to clarify that I have already performed extensive troubleshooting on this issue:

Issue Pattern: The problem occurs only during idle periods (30 minutes to 2 hours of inactivity).
Reproducibility: The issue is consistent across three different computers with the same configuration (one with i5 processor).
Windows Version Impact:
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (both upgrade and clean install) - issue appears
Windows 11 Pro 23H2 - no issue
Startup Applications: I have already disabled all unnecessary startup applications, and the issue persists.
Given that this problem affects multiple units and is clearly linked to the Windows 24H2 update, I believe this requires further investigation at the technical level. The fact that a clean install of Windows 11 Pro 24H2 still exhibits the problem, while a clean install of Windows 11 Pro 23H2 does not, indicates a specific compatibility issue between the hardware and the 24H2 update.

I kindly request that this matter be escalated to the appropriate technical team for further analysis, as this appears to be a systemic issue with the hardware/software combination.

Did you have installed MSI utility-MSI Center?
If yes, Please refer below step to remove MSI Center for checking.
Step 1. Please uninstall original MSI Center on app list.
Step 2. Please remove MSI Center SDK in programs and features in control panel.
Step 3. Restart once.
Step 4. Delete the folder C\\MSI and C\\Program Files(x86)\ MSI.
Step 5. Restart once.
Step 6. Please Check it again.

I have already tried doing this, it didn’t help.
Moreover, I tried performing a clean installation of Windows 11 24H2 Pro without installing MSI Center, but the problem persists.
I would like to emphasize again that there are no issues with 23H2.
However, I can conduct another experiment by removing MSI Center.

Please help provide more information.

Hello! I have a similar problem with MSI PRO DP21 113M-602XRU Intel Core i7-13700, 8 x 2.1 GHz, 16 GB DDR4, 512 GB SSD.
The problem is with the CPU fan, which suddenly starts spinning up to 100% speed, and then gradually decreases to a normal level.
Perhaps the problem is in the latest BIOS v. A90, which is not on the official website of the company, it comes through Windows Update. I tried to roll back to version A80, there seemed to be no problems, but after rebooting, the BIOS update to version A90 started again. I tried to disable driver updates through Windows Update, it did not help. Tell me how to solve the problem?
Please excuse me for my English.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards, Alexander.
