Hi,

I'm looking to overclock this beast but with current Afterburner(4.6 beta11) it's not possible.
For example power limit goes only to 120% and that gives me 300w. That's way less than I get with Original bios!

I hear you need to use "special" version of Afterburner to get unlimited options.
How do I get it?

MSI Afterburner 4.6.0 Beta 12 is available.
https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/msi-afterburner-beta-download.html

The "Special" version of MSI Afterburner is only made available to a Elite overclockers and is not publicly available.

So where can I request that afterburner?

I'm not "elite" overclocker but what's the point of this card if I cannot use it properly?
With original bios mode I get pretty much same results that I already got with a Gigabyte card...

you can post your SN1 here and maybe moderator has a newer VBIOS version that could help to you, also tell your current VBIOS version

btw, if you download dragon center and inside the live update, if you scan for vbios update, is there anything available?

Really frustrating to talk with MSI support as they don't seem to understand what I need.
I get link to various versions of afterburner or dragon center that obviously don't help at all.

You spent 1600? on a card that supposedly has unlimited bios options but then MSI doesn't give you the software to play with it.
Quality of service is very poor.

and while u get frustrated with MSI tech, did you scan in dragon center for new FW? and apparently you don't bother ask for new vbios here :confused2:

I don't need new vbios :confused2: I need better software.

With LN2 bios default tdp is 250/275w and in Afterburner you can up power limit to 120%. That gives me around 300w which is a joke.
This card should go at least 400-450w but software is not letting me to go there for whatever reason.

MSI support acts like they don't know what I'm talking about but every review site says you need Extreme/Special version of Afterburner to unlock everything.

Hi, i see you have same issue as me :D but im an actual extreme overclocker :D okay but to main topic, you need ?real? ln2 bios for your card which they wont give you since you arent overclocker, but you may try. The bios you need version is : 90.02.17.00.FB if youre lucky they will get you to sign NDA and void your warranty and THEN they will send you a bios you need with AfterBurner Extreme (dont know if on newer cards you need Extreme version)

Thanks for the info!

Can somebody provide that bios here in forums or do I have to ask that from support as well?

We can only offer official LN2 vbios. Add S/N and a copy of your current LN2 vbios saved to file.

That is by the way no real vbios version and quite useless.

Both bioses with SN in attachment.

Why is MSI making this so complicated? This is something that should have been in order right out of the box but for some reason you are making customers do this hassle.

I don't make anything. If you want to contact MSI: >>How to contact MSI.<<

The forum staff are no MSI employees.

You are using LN2 vbios version NV377MH.124. Latest is NV377MH.125. Both vbios you attached are the LN2 one.

For flashing use nvflash: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash/

note that you need to rename the unpacked file NV377MH.125 to .rom (e.g. 125.rom) for flashing.

If you saved the nvflash for windows .exe say under drive d: you can start it in a Windows prompt in administrator mode after you saved the .rom at the same place. First type d: (or wherever you saved nvflash and the .rom) and press enter. Now you changed to drive d: where you have nvflash in the root directory. Now start the flash with the following line: nvflash -6 125.rom (press enter)

Note that if using a 64bit OS you'll need to run the line nvflash64 -6 125.rom

If that doesn't give you what you want contact MSI: >>How to contact MSI.<<

It is an real bios version reported by GPU-Z, dont know about Msi internal vbios names. (GPU Z screenshot in attachements) Extreme overclocker Gunslinger is using this bios for LN2 and it seems quite effective.

Sorry to disappoint you but support wont give you anything, because even if they wanted they cant. Stuff we are talking about is high NDA unoffIcial LN2 bios and fully unlocked afterburner with voltage ranges that could kill your card in instant, Msi knows why they wont give these thing easily. Best shot is ask someone on HwBot forum for vBios or contact Gunslinger from Hwbot.org (team Overclock.net) personaly. Also you can try same thing as me, just contact local Msi office, NOT SUPPORT! Note that with these things will VOID YOUR WARRANTY!

No, it is not. It is just a nvidia core part of vbios that can be identical for various manufacturer vbios versions. That is why it is 100% useless for identification.

Sorry for being so rude all the time but I'm really frustrated by this thing.

And even more now that I flashed that bios. It looked promising looking at the tdp values(360/400) but after flashing, power limit is locked in afterburner and clocks are locked at 1350/7000.
Same with Original bios as well so nothing is working.

Reinstalled drivers and Windows too but it's the same.
Two days now been trying to fix this but nothing helps.

Did my card die or wtf is going on?? :confused2::confused2:

It is very unlikely that the vbios caused an issue. It is the latest MSI official. See if one of the three power connectors came loose or that the vbios is switched properly.

I'm thinking something happened right before flashing.
As you said before both bioses I send were LN2 one but I'm pretty sure I first exported Original, then changed to LN2 and exported it.
So how those bios files ended being the same...I don't know.

Bios switch is working properly. I can read changed values from gpu-z.
GPU core is locked at 1350mhz and if I raise it manually like 5mhz, system crashes.

I'm gonna try couple of things tomorrow but I'm pretty sure the card is broken.

It sounds like a bad card. Might be switch was not fully in one position when the card was used. Anyway sounds like rma is needed.
