Hello everyone,
I have been chasing an issue with my pc for quite sometime now where as soon as I load into a game the screens will go black and the gpu fans will go to 100%.

I have tried changing the PSU and cables with no luck, if I lower the power limit to 80% or lower it runs no problem, but anything over that and it crashes.

I have tried a different gpu in the PC and it worked flawlessly so it’s something with this particular GPU. I have tried repasting it and the thermal pads actually looked in good shape. The temps seem perfectly fine as it crashes even at 60c. I have run several stress test on Kombustor and with the GPU fans set to 100% it makes it through the test but if I leave it for a bit without closing the program when it reaches 61c and up it crashes.

The PC specs:
I7-10700K
MSI MPG Z590 Gaming Edge WiFi Mobo
Corsair 64GB Ram
Corsair RM850x PSU
MSI 3080 ventus 3x 10gb

I have had this complete build since 2021 and it gave no issues until recently these crashes started happening randomly and now everytime I load a game.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

Hi
Check with HWInfo for other sensors on the card, possibly something else is overheating.

If the GPU is under warrantee, RMA it.

Else you can try:
Open it again and check for perfect contact between heatsink and GPU core.
Examine the imprint over GPU core,
examine the imprint over memory chips on GPU core contact heatsink surface too.

Ensure all of them to have perfect imprint.
re-seat the cooler and ensure perfect contact,
re-apply new thermal paste and test it again.

And tell the results, based on this will do the next suggestions.
If possible add photos of the GPU inside, immediately after open it. (to able to see the imprints and how was running)

I have tried repasting it

What did you use?

and the thermal pads actually looked in good shape.

Which pads you referring too?
I have doubt in that. GPU from 2021 with those stock pads on Ventus,
they wear out quickly by pulling out oil.
