I have an interesting phenomenom, or at least I think so.
First of all let me say I have had virtually no problems since I put this rig together 2 weeks ago. I used all the 'Auto' settings to begin with, ran memtest86 for over 24 hours, played a bunch of games, and then decided to tinker.
I have 4 3dmark03 overall scores and cpu scores to post here:
1. System Performance: 'Fast'
Auto mem timings
CPU FSB clock: 200mhz
Auto voltages
CPU score: 631
3dmark : 5718
2. System Performance: 'Fast'
2-3-2-6 mem timings
CPU FSB clock: 216mhz
1.55v vcore
2.7v mem voltage
1.5v agp voltage
CPU score: 677
3dmark : 6008
3. System Performance: 'Turbo'
2-3-2-6 mem timings
CPU FSB clock: 200mhz
Auto voltages
CPU score: 622
3dmark : 6117
4. System Performance: 'Turbo'
2-3-2-6 mem timings
CPU FSB clock: 213mhz
1.55v vcore
2.7v mem voltage
1.5v agp voltage
CPU score: 669
3dmark : 6187
When system performance is set to 'Fast', 3dmark03 reports the gpu clock and it's memory speed correctly, 378mhz, and 338mhz respectively.
When system performance is set to 'Turbo', 3dmark03 reports the gpu clock and it's memory speed as 391mhz, and 351mhz respectively.
By far the largest increase in overall performance is achieved by the backhanded overclocking of the video card. I think i would rather use 'RadLinker' and have some control over the situation, especially given that my R9800pro is a non-pro with it's bios flashed, and 3.3ns instead of 3.0ns samsung ddr that comes on the normal pro model. Funny thing is 351mhz is higher than I've ever been able to overclock it!
