This is a weird one and I don't know what to do about it.

I updated my bios to the newest one not long ago so I could install a 5800x3d. After I did that the motherboard should show no boot devices unless I turned off some UEFI setting in the bios. Soon as I did that it would find all my devices and I could boot back into windows.

Now I am finding out that no matter what USB storage device I plug into the computer, windows 10 will never find it. If I turn that bios setting back on I bet it would work but then none of my hard drives show up to boot from. I currently boot from an NVME drive and have multiple other NVMEs, SSDs, and even mechanical hard drive in the computer.

I have no way to transfer files from my computer to anywhere. Has anyone else run into this issue? only usb devices plugged into the system at a mouse and keyboard.

resetting bios to defaults turns this setting back on.

Ok more info. For the motherboard to find ANY drives in the bios I need to set these settings. any other combination does not work

Advanced Windows OS configuration -> has to be set to CSM

under boot, the boot must be Legacy + UEFI.

This means that your original system is installed under CSM (Legacy) mode.
Since you have a CPU which is newer than AMD 3000 series + newer BIOS, BIOS will run in UEFI mode by default, this is why your boot drives cannot be detected anymore.
I would suggest you convert your drives from MBR to GPT partition style and they should be able to work in UEFI mode.
