5090+MEG AI1300P compatibility?

Hi,
I have the MSI MEG AI1300P 1300W PSU and was wondering has the 600w dedicated 12vphwr cable been tested on the 5090? I have bought the msi suprim liquid soc 5090 (still waiting for mine here in the uk from scan currently ticket number 94 in the queue) and want to avoid melting ports/cables with it once i recieve it. I have read that the 5090s are pulling as much as 900w in less than 1ms spikes. Should i be concerned Or is the PSU i have and cable good enough for it?

It's hard to tell.. just came across Roman checking on how things go with a 5090.
According to the spec, it should work. But then we have things like this where a cable at PSU end reaches 150C.
I'd personally wait out the 5090.

I mean the PSU comes with 2 cables the single 12Vphwr connector and the 12v-2x6 connector cables. Ive heard the one having issues is just the single single 12vhpwr cable. And those using the new standard are fine? I could be wrong. I didnt even know there was 2 different 16pin cables till now lol.

Those are largely identical, the 12V-2×6 connector was just slightly updated over 12VHPWR (the small sense pins got a bit shorter, the big power/ground pins got a bit longer, to ensure better sensing in case of improperly plugged in cables), see here. Otherwise it's the same. Not to be confused with the oldschool 8-pin / 6-pin PCIe power cables!

It's still beyond me how 12pin connector is meant to provide more power than "old" 2 PCIe 8pin connectors.. Those apparently can do only 150W each. So the new 12pin should use much thicker wires to begin with..

Not to scare you, but be aware that regardless of the brand, the possibility of 12HPWR melting is real. I’ve experienced it myself more details here:
