5800X3D Undervolting / Negative C.O. Settings

Yeah I know they released it for the B550 Gaming Edge, it's not fair they did not release it for the Tomahawk too imho, becasue it's the exact same board, it would be so easy to release the bios for the two boards at the same time as they always have done (because I repeat again, they are the same board except for the extra lan on the tomahawk and the wi-fi on the gaming edge). But no, this time they only released it for one of them. I have the feeling of having an excellent cpu on a very good motherboard that does not let me fine tune it for better temps, and I've been waiting for this to change for more than 2 months, I think it's a reasonable amount of time waiting. I don't know when I would win the lottery, maybe next week or maybe i'd had to wait another couple of months, but I'm tired of waiting.

I already ordered another motherboard (from another vendor), this situation pushed me to do it. It's been a pleasure being part of this forums, keep up the good work here.

Thats a very expensive and time intensive move for just a little bit of undervolting that probably wont do that much performance wise. The times where you can get 20% performance gains from overclocking are over. I would not buy a new board to get me 5% extra but thats me.
And officially its not supported. MSI is now adding it it will take some time before all boards are done. Most of the time these company's only have 1-2 guy's working on new biosses its not a big team. Patience is a virtue

I don't switch boards for more performance, I switch boards because other vendors allow from the beginning tweaking this cpu (voltage offset, smt on/off for example, on my board has always been impossible to adjust), and I see it everyday on other forums. I was considering switching some time ago, but I thought that maybe these features would come to my mobo at last. I could wait more, sure, maybe by the Zen 4 release it would be out, or maybe next week, or the other, but I think I've waited enough, and no one can asure me when it would be out. I choose enjoy now, before Zen 4 is out and maybe then upgrade.

In the first agesa 1.2.0.7 run my B550 Gaming Edge Wifi was almost if not last to get a beta. Same with a final version. This time around its one of the first to get the new beta.
Maybe other vendors do better. But i dont know why its such a big deal. The CPU wont be much faster with a UV. Power usage wont differ that much because its temp limited. And The temps that are hit are covered under warranty its build to run that hot and keep running like that for years.

I do agree that its nice to have the option to tweak the CPU but thats coming. Yes 2 months is some time but then again when you are going to use the CPU for years or at least until Zen5 whats one extra month then.
Zen4 without the 3D Cache wont be much faster in gaming compared to the Zen3X3D. And its a more expensive platform yes Zen4X3D is coming later this year but what will a upgrade to AM5 cost compared to the performance boost you will get. Its probably not worth it unless you have more than enough money to spend.
That money is probably better spend on a faster GPU tho.

I am normally a silent reader of this forum, but for this topic I can no longer stay silent and had to create an account.
Having the undervolt option in the bios is an absolut must. I have supported MSI for a long time. I own a x570 Unify and a 3090 Suprim from MSI and before that a GTX 1080 Gaming. Everyone of these items I have undervolted. Why? Because I like it cool and quite. In the winter as well as in the summer. It is also a nice bonus that you save some power with the astronomic rising in power cost recently.
I do not care if the high temperatures are covered under warranty or the UV is not making the processor faster, that is not the point of undervolting.
From a company that prides itself to care about gamers I would have expected the option to set a negative offset from the beginning and not only to start to work on it after a public outcry. Other companies had no problem to accomplish this. After all it prolongs the life of the hardware, but maybe that is not something that MSI is really interested in. Very disappointed.
