Maybe I've been out of touch for too long.... I had higher expectations of myself... but for the life of me I cannot figure out why my futuremark scores are showing up with a 200 MHz FSB when this board/chip combo is supposed to be 800.

I tried changing the Advanced Chipset config in BIOS (as well as the voltage control).

All, I'm at a total loss.... I guess I need to update/build a PC more often than every 2 or so years... What am I doing wrong?

Sincere thanks in advance,
Ching

oh, yea:

MIS K8t Neo-FIS2R
AMD-64
512 x 2 Memory: 'no name' brand (3200DDR @ 400Mhz)

Hi Ching,

Is the Core Center in your system working fine ??? The Overclocking option is available ??? (is the small red triangle on the left side of the Core Center window).

If your answer is yes, what is your chip Ordering Part Number ???. This is the chip number starting with ADA....

I have some problems with it.

Thanks for your help,

Seranko

Is Core Center an additional app that came on the CD with the package? I don't seem to have anything running in the system tray (XP).

I thought I ran/installed everything on the CD, but maybe not.... can you confirm if this is an app that runs in XP? Seems to me that I'm just missing a straight forward conf setting in BIOS....

Yes, It's an additional and you'll find in yout CD under

Utility / MSI Utility / MSI Core Center

It helps to control Temp, Fan speed and Overclocking.

Did you check your Chip Part Number ???

Seranko

I have the serial number...

The CPU came as a boxed set.

Do I have to pull the chip (remove fan) to see the part #?

Ching,

yes, the number is on the chip. But, don't worry about it, just install the software and let me know if is working.

Check in this same forum [Athlon64] Core Center Problem and you'll find my problem.

Thanks

Seranko

its quad pumped same as a P4 they are same 200 fsb in bios ,claim 800 after the quad pump

The ACTUAL fsb is 200, 800 is reference to the fact that the bus is "quad pumped" (moves data 4 times for each clock cycle, giving "effective" 800Mhz fsb) Intel also markets their P4 this way.

Thanks, all for the sanity check.

Would one think that scores of 2593 w/out overclock are acceptible on the Futuremark benchmark test?

I keep seeing scores in the 6k, 7k and 8k range..... not sure if I'm 'supposed' to be in their neighborhood or not....

Is this card not up to par with the rest of the system?

Figured we'd have some 'mad onion' fans out there that could throw out hot sports opinion.

Somethings wrong with the cpu score should be higher. Mine is in the 8K range.
What are your temperatures? Maybe your cpu is overheating and its clocking down. Try checking the temperature and if ok rerunning the test.
