845GL TV-Mode selection doesn't work

hi,

i have a hermes 845GL with Bios A6557IMS V1.1 061002.
in bios settings i selected PAL as default tv mode but when
plugging the box to my tv, i get ntsc (i suppose - synchronisation does not work).

starting up windows solves the problem so i think it has something to do with tihs selection and that it is ignored.

is there a new bios version which solves this problem? i did not find any bios update for _tis_ board (typing in 6557 in search mask ends up in no result).

any suggestions?

hmm as i use my box unter linux, i have to set this register somehow. i found out that chrontel 7009 registers are accessible trough i2c but i cannot find a i2c device under linux (only i845 is visible).

how can i find out more about hw structure? are registers of chrontel modulator mapped to adresses of i845?

any idea where to start at?
