8850 capturing with Detonators > 23.11?

Hi!

I use Windows XP and a MS-8850 (VIVO).
When I install the original MSI-drivers from my MSI-CD (21.83) it both works (IN and OUT). When I install 23.11 (downloaded at MSI, but WITHOUT the MSI-overclock-tabs in the preferences), only the Video-IN function works.
With any detonator over 23.11 (27.xx, 28.xx,29.xx,30.xx) I get this annoying error message when trying to install the WDM driver : Error starting device (Code 10) - translated from german. It is all the same for WDM 1.08 and 1.1. Man, these are many combining possibilities!!
So is there any workaround for this? I want to record VHS AND play with good performance with the same configuration! Now I have XP with 30.30 for games and 98 with 21.83 for recording and TV-Out.. :(

Thanks!

Hey PCMCIA,
Alot of people had this trouble back when the old forum was running. Me included.
It was solved when MSI brought out the newer Bios.

It was solved when MSI brought out the newer Bios

yeah I heard that, too.
My BIOS is 3.20.00.18.03
the newer one has some 29 in it?

As I asked in another thread: where to get? I would like to get it directly from MSI and directly for the MS-8850, cause I'm afraid to flash it with a generic NVIDIA-BIOS. But I don't have to tell you about LiveUpdate2...

MSI Germany provides no new BIOS:
here

and the answer on my support request in April 2002 was: We're working on it. Please be patient.

P.S. the animated smileys rule!

I used the Live update to update G/C Bios (i was lucky enough to use before it stopped working for people :) )
I have no idea were MSI keep new Bios's.
There are older Bios around but I think you do need the 29.
When Live update gets working properly you should be set..

I just used Live update 2 to upgrade the BIOS on my 8850 and it worked like a charm. My system is Win XP with NTFS system, I received a prompt on the programs to close and then closed my eyes and went for it. NO PROBLEM!. I must admit I am relieved thet I didn,t have to go to Safe BIOA as it looks pretty dangerous to stuff about with a system which is running . The capture driver now installs :D :D

PCMCIA,
you could try reinstalling Live Update from the setup files located on your system. Do this and reboot, do this and reboot etc
Until you can get into Bios section. (worked for me)
or wait ;(
lol

Good save there Mick Matthews :D

Hey - what is that??

At the moment my computer and me are at my brother and we have a DSL-connection here (not a modem like me) and I just tried LiveUpdate2 again .. and it worked perfectly at the first try! :D

I know, it's not because of the internet connection :p
Is it some new Live Update Version? Number 330 or so.
Oh man, this is bad timing! I waited so long and now that I start crying around - it works. The screen didn't go black like promised in the console-window, but who cares?

WDM 1.16 installed without problems on a 30.30 Detonator set.
Have no possibility to test Video-functionality, but should work.. I will write again some day, if not!

Thanks anyway for encouraging me :D

You got the new BIOS as well while your were there ?(
Using 30.30, if you get an nvmini.vxd error when you capture just borrow this vxd file from earlier Det version.

Hope it works :)
