Sorry about that...

TS = ThrottleStop that's what I use for controlling my CPU, most of them are beasts you need to tame,
and just 3 settings in MSI Center Performance, Balanced, Battery is much to wide for me, I need more precision, so I go in User Scenario,
I adjust the first on the left to 0-20%, doesn't really matter, but the others from center to right, 40-70-100-130-150, now we are set.
But I always use COOLER BOOST when gaming, but if ever I forget or had a drink, I know there's no need to worry.

You can use also XTU, but TS is so easy to modify parameters, it's just like child's play.

PL1 = CPU NON-TURBO Power Limit, for my i7-12700H 58W (BIOS 58000=58W) Intel recommends 35-65, can go up to 65W sustained,
PL2 = CPU TURBO Power Limit, for my i7-12700H 68W (BIOS 68000 = 68W) Intel recommends 45-75, but can go up to 115W spike.

PL1 = CPU NON-TURBO Power Limit, for a i9-12900H 65W (BIOS 65000=65W) Intel recommends 35-65, can go up to 65W sustained,
PL2 = CPU TURBO Power Limit, for a i9-12700H 75W (BIOS 75000 = 75W) Intel recommends 45-75, but can go up to 115W spike.

Next post I will go more in detail about BIOS.

Keep in mind this is a GUIDE not a written in stone MANUAL feel free to modify this if your laptop performs better with slight changes to these values.

INTERNET: Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, World of Tanks, World of Warships, World of Warcraft, AC Series up to AC Black Flag and Indie games .
So as you can see the 1st picture is the monitor for all the other games that need not much CPU and GPU, most online free games.
Keep in mind you only want to use these settings to keep your laptop nice and cool, since this will be enough to have a playable game.
So for your i9 go for : CORE 0,1 40/40, CORE 2/3 39/39, CORE 4/5 38/38, CORE 6/7 37/37.
You want to set PL1/PL2 to 45/55, since you have an i9.
Lowering the PL1/PL2 will reduce heat output inside your laptop, to increase durability.
Of course you want to set this for older games that require not much CPU and GPU to keep your laptop nice and cool.

So for i7 13620H go for High Performance : CORE 0,1 40/40, CORE 2/3 39/39, CORE 4/5 38/38, CORE 6/7 37/37.
You want to set PL1/PL2 to 50/60.

So for i7 12700H go for High Performance : CORE 0,1 40/40, CORE 2/3 39/39, CORE 4/5 38/38, CORE 6/7 37/37.
You want to set PL1/PL2 to 45/55.

So for i7 10750H go for High Performance : CORE 0,1 40/40, CORE 2/3 39/39, CORE 4/5 38/38, CORE 6/7 37/37.
You want to set PL1/PL2 to 40/50.

So for i7 9750H go for High Performance : CORE 0,1 40/40, CORE 2/3 39/39, CORE 4/5 38/38, CORE 6/7 37/37.
You want to set PL1/PL2 to 40/45.

I've got my new MSI Vector 16 HX A13V with i9-13980HX and 4080 GPU.
As advertised, the maximum power it needs is 240W for both CPU-GPU, but I got a 330W power charger in the box I was wondering what could you recommend for the PL1 and PL2.
My CPU was hitting 103-degree temperature the first second after I hit start on the Cinebench test or a game so I applied the settings you're recommending for the i9. Should I stick to this or I can try some higher values for my i9-13980HX since it's the strongest one 13th gen.

Well it depends what you want to do, your Bios should be able to supply up to 120W for your CPU, since it's an i9, it can take it easily.
Some have even modded BIOS or rolled back to earlier versions to attain 130, even 140W, but doing this might create some issues.
With an i9 in a laptop, it's more of a question of how much power your case and fans can handle, before hitting the maximum thermal capacity.
Another issue, if you give 120W to your CPU, this means that your GPU, can only then receive a maximum of 120W,
instead of the 175W maximum, that it was intended to receive, to perform at it's optimal.

So you must decide what is more important to you, GPU intensive games, CPU intensive games, coolest possible CPU.
So if GPU intensive games, you want to cap that i9 to PL1/PL2 55/65W, to leave the maximum of 175W required for the GPU.
So if CPU intensive games, you want to start with a PL1/PL2 70/80W and then see how your temps are, if temps are to your satisfaction,
then increase by 5W increments, 75/85W, 80/90W, etc, the same holds true with the reverse, 65/75W, 60/70W, etc.
I doubt you want the coolest CPU possible, you wouldn't have purchased an i9 laptop.

Of course you can also play with the Mhz of each core to tailor adjust also, ex: if you play CSGO a lot,
you can set the first 2 cores higher and the others much lower.

You should be able to Undervolt your i9 HX, but just in case you have issues I sent you an alternative way to reduce the voltage to your CPU.

Hello everyone! I have MSI Raider GE 66 and I made thermal items replacement. I used Ther,al Grizzly Cryonate as a thermal paste and Ther,al Grizzly minus pad 8 as a therpmal pad. I wanted to replace it to aboid high temperature. I set in Bios that the max temp is 84C, not greater. But the problem is that I used 1mm thickness thermal pad and due to this my radiator are notcontacted with GPU and CPU surfaces which are to be cooled (see the attachement). Do anyone know what thermal pad thickness I have to buy to make the thermal exchange effective? Now the tepm of GPU and CPU rapidly reach max 84C in Cyberpunk ultra graphics, and sometimes CPU temp is jumped between 60-80C and I don't know why. Thanks a lot!

I'd recommend running fans on Cooler Boost when you play.

Hello, thanks a lot for your help, it is quite interesting. But the problem that I can’t use even more 1 mm thermal pad because radiator doesn’t lay over the GPU and CPU at a good manner. If I use 1,5 mm it won’t make hear exchange between them. So that’s the problem, maybe use 0,5 mm thermal pad? Will it be thin for this laptop?

You can stack 1.0mm + 0.5mm = 1.5mm
You can stack 1.0mm + 1.0mm =2.0mm, etc
 
I have a Raider also and I just have thermal paste between the cpu and gpu and the radiator - no pads.

I understand it, but it makes the whole procedure much complicated, when I will stack different thickness of thermal pad. I still don’t know what exactly thickness I should buy to make this process of heat exchange much more effective. I can measure the distance between radiator and these surfaces to be cooked in such a way: to use plasticine, then to assemble the system, then again take this piece of plasticine and measure it by calipers, but it takes time and I don’t have this special calipers yet)
 
Well I had some issues with thermals and sent it off to an msi repair centre, and they sent it back with just paste, no pads. And stock it doesn't have pads.
Just put a little bit of old thermal paste over the pad, set down the thermal module over it, remove it then,
if they all have a small dot of paste, you got the right thickness.

If the pad is too thick, the paste will smear everywhere, if too thin won't show, if just right, will leave a dot.
 
See, the pad it too thick, because the paste smeared everywhere. So what thickness of thermal pad I need to buy then? My CPU temparature is much highet than GPU one (+10-12 degrees). Why is it so? When I use to have a video conference, youtube and google simutaneosly the cpu temp is about 73 and GPU 59. Is it bad? Thanks!
