AMD completely ends production of performance desktop CPUs! FX2-8300/6300 processors for socket AM3 + are the last competitors against Intel-DT platform. AMD gives up the fight against Intel here, and in the future will launch only APU with mainstream performance! Vishera + AM3+ are the last representative of an AMD performance CPU platform! Buy it, someday it will be a valued historical artifact.

Far from trustworthy, it's that Czech site's opinion.

Considering AMD's doing not so well lately, any news like this can sound pretty convincing, isn't it?

I know, I guess I just kind of expected to read something like that for awhile. Only time will tell.

Actually there is more support for this.

Wait and see. To this point everything's just rumors. Also concentrating on APU in the future wouldn't have to mean leaving performance market.

If it turns out to be true we can all look forward to Intel dictating prices... No competition would be bad.

In Intel's eyes, AMD was never a real competition. And Intel high end CPU pricing has always been dictated anyway. :)

The last time AMD had an edge was when they launched the Athlon 64 CPUs. That didn't last too long.
Although Intel could afford the higher pricing, seeing that people were buying them, regardless, my gut feel is they would increase their profit margin, not having competition. So prices will go one way only.
It would be a pity. Lets hope this new management at AMD rethinks their strategy, that is, if all of this is not a rumour.

:hiha: Who are the twinkle toes people at AMD that came up with a ridiculous product code name like 'Piledriver'?

Such foul language in that mickey mouse article, I wouldn't believe anyone that has to resort to such language. No class what so ever.
