These are the memory configs & speeds guaranteed by AMD for their Ryzen 1XXX CPUs:
1866 MHz for 4 DIMMs in dual channel and dual rank.
2133 MHz for 4 DIMMs in dual channel and single rank.
2400 MHz for 2 DIMMs in dual channel and dual rank.
2666 MHz for 2 DIMMs in dual channel and single rank.

Anything above that is gambling.

Update 2020:

The max memory speed (guaranteed) for Ryzen 1XXX is 2666MHz.
The max memory speed (guaranteed) for Ryzen 2XXX is 2933MHz.
The max memory speed (guaranteed) for Ryzen 3XXX is 3200MHz.
But those speeds are guaranteed only in case of 2 single-rank modules.
In case of dual-rank modules or 4 memory modules everything is degraded with 266MHz (at least).
Of course, overclocking and overvolting combined with a bit of luck (high quality CPU) can lead to higher speeds.
But again, nothing is guaranteed.

@CaptFwiffo So I installed the 7C35v1D2 bios, and it seems to have resolved my DDR4 Training issues (as well as considerably sped up the boot process, now seconds to POST, and ~20 to get to Windows login).

It also seems to have significantly boosted the all core performance as well (Cinebench R20 went from 9679 to 10598, both with XMP enabled as I was originally able boot occasionally with XMP).

Nice. What about the other settings I was mentioning?? PBO, CPB??? I think I tried that Beta bios and it didn't work for me. I was able to boot, etc, but I was getting random reboots (BSOD's with NTFS.SYS)

Hi @eludingone, did you have any luck with the .A81 or .A82 beta bios? I'm seeing the same on my 5950X in an X570 ACE (currently on 7C35v1C which is prior to the 1D1 / 1D2 betas which some claim might help me). I would note that it does manage to get up and running some times (for a bit it was reliable, but has been getting progressively worse). I would really like to hear from someone with the same / similar issue as me and seeing it resolved with these new beta bios releases.
I am currently running the A82 BIOS, but to be honest nothing really runs better than 1600FCLK. I have 3200 ram so it's not a big problem for me personally but I know a LOT of people have been having issues with even running XMP on their sets. I was able to get it to run at 1800 with the A82 BIOS but it didn't seem stable. Still had BSOD errors.
Anything higher than 1800 and I couldn't even boot windows.
What I finally did is just undervolt the heck out of my processor and am happy running where I am at. I am running 1.0V on the core and .95V on the Fabric voltage. It runs so cool and stable that I don't care about a bit of overclocking. At this point I am nowhere near a CPU bottleneck so I am good to wait.
Hope you get your ACE Mobo issues figured out. Good Luck!

I have an x570 tomahawk mobo and 5900x, ram is 4x8gb patriot viper 4400mhz cl19. With all 4 ram installed it boots to windows at 2133mhz but wont show me the bios at all, just black screen.
If i remove 2 sticks then i can get into bios np

Isn't 2 sticks dual rank? I don't want 4400 il only go to 3600 or 3800.
It boots to Windows and runs everything fine with all 4 sticks in. It simply won't show me the bios

I've recently bought the x570 tomahawk, 5900x and 4 sticks of patriot viper steel 4000mhz and I'm also having issues getting past the post with all 4 ram sticks at 4000mhz. If I remove 2, or sometimes 3 then it will boot to windows and be OK at that speed. To get it stable with 4 sticks I have to set it to 3600mhz in the bios and so far its been running fine.

B550 Tomahawk + 5800X + 4 sticks of G.SKILL FlareX 8GB DDR4 3200MHz F4-3200C14D-16GFX

Cannot go above the xmp profile (set to 3400MHz it produces errors) (2 sticks 3600 MHz CL14-CL15 was fine with b450tomahawk+3700x), altough still has trouble starting up with or without xmp profile after leaving the computer turned off for several hours. (After "warming up" seems to be fine though and haven't tested with 2 sticks).

On the A53 bios.

Hi everybody!
I've a Ryzen 2600, MSI B450-a Pro Max , Zotax GTX 2060, 1 SSD, 2 HDD, and a Corsair LPX Vengeance Kit: 3200 Mhz, 2x8GB, Low Profile (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16).
Yes, i've it A2-B2 slots, like the motherboard manual recommends.

So, i've this memory at 2993MHZ, cause my Mobo can't go far than this, with XMP Profile 1. The base speed the first time i installed it was 2133. ¿What?

Tried:

1. XMP disabled, Memory Try It! with 3200, and the bios reboot, and again goes to 2133 Mhz.
2. XMP 2, reboot, bios can't load it, and goes 2133 Mhz again.
3. XMP disabled, it goes 2133 Mhz as natural speed.

Tested with Windows Memory Test and 0 errors. No mistakes, the RAM is right. With Wmic, i will show you this info (i can't get the version):
BankLabel MaxVoltageDeviceLocatorManufacturerSpeed TypeDetail
P0 CHANNEL A1200DIMM 1Unknown 293316512
P0 CHANNEL B1200DIMM 1 Unkwown293316512

After all these, i returned to XMP Profile 1, and i'm with 2933 Mhz. I know this is the limit speed of my motherboard also, but here i go:
My system is unstable.
I've some BSOD, sometimes i've freezing, noise and rebooting. This happens to me everyday, mostly playing. Sometimes browsing the monitor goes white, and then i see the browser again. I installed win 10 (with all updates till these days), the mobo drivers, etc. and so on, TWICE (clean installation both times). With no more software, only games, directx and mobo. GPU drivers, the basic, to test where's the issue.

Another weird info: my last mobo was MSI B450-a Pro (the prior version to the Max i've now), and had Hyperx Fury 3200Mhz 2x4, and it could work with XMP Profile 2 with these speed. My mobo had a failure, was damaged cause some leds i installed, so i use the warranty at my shop, bought this new model MSI B450-a Pro Max, and bought new ram, this Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16, cause the repair shop said the RAM was damaged also.

The Voltage of the RAM is 1.20. The specification of Corsair says that to work with 3200 the voltage must be 1.35.
The Mobo says this RAM isn't in its VQL list (read it AFTER the issues started, because at Corsair's it says it is optimized for this Mobo, so i bought it). Even it that isn't true, it says it's optimized for AMD...
Questions:
a) ¿It does not work cause the RAM isn't "verified" for this motherboard, and i need to buy verified (and better RAM)?
b) ¿It has sense to buy/change my brand RAM with more than 2933 or is it useless?
c) ¿Should i add another 2x8 kit, same brand and speed, to get 34Mb RAM with 2933 Mhz, or with 4 sticks i can't get 2933?
d) ¿Should i try manually to get 3200 Mhz? ¿Or could this damage my motherboard/BIOS? Change voltage to 1.35 and so on...

This issues about Ryzen RAM is a pain in the [***CENSORED***] for a lot of AMD users... I understand the frustration of users like me, and i'm with the guys who has these issues, it's very frustrating. I hope new BIOS (i've the last) could help to solve this issues.
Thanks very much.

I just built an MSI X570 Mag Tomahawk plus Ryzen 5900x system. The RAM I chose was G.Skill Ripjaws V PC3600 16x2 (32 GB) CL16. So far I've had zero issues with the RAM running at 3600 Mhz in XMP.

Is there any difference between running RAM in XMP and manually selecting speed, voltage and timings? It's weird but enabling XMP gives me WHEA errors. Manual settings work fine.

XMP is just a profile. Simplifies your life if you don't know how to do things manually.
In my opinion, manual adjustments are more sensible as you can fine tune things.

Just to chime in, the latest beta BIOS for the X570 Creation (with AGESA 1.1.9.0) seemed to be a magic fix for my 5900X + 4x HyperX KHX2933C17D4/16G XMP config. I would get WHEA reboots consistently when trying most any 3D-accelerated application (BeamNG.Drive was my preferred repeatable test, as it would flatline the system in under five minutes every time, usually sooner.) That was with memory running at only 2933MHz. The system was completely stable for CPU-only workloads, and passed memtest86 just fine, but games would kill it dead.

If you haven't already updated (provided they've released a newer BIOS for your particular board,) definitely give it a shot. If it's not available, tune down a bit and wait a little bit more.

I have a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Ac , and have checked with Pc Part Picker with regards to the CMK16GX4M2D3000C16 as to whether it is compatible with the Ryzen 9 3900X, which according to that website, (pc part picker ), it says that it has no issues regarding compatibility. so should I trust it ? I currently use a Ryzen 7 2700X

Well, I take back what I said about the AGESA 1.1.9.0 BIOS and WHEA errors: installed a new set of Gskill Trident Z 3200MHz CL14 (2x16GB) and it WHEA error 18'd in-game after a few minutes, and gave the bugcheck WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR another time, when running on XMP (both requiring reboots.) Even went off the QVL for the motherboard this time, so this is extremely frustrating.

Hi guys ,
I have a problem with my mobo after updating the bios to version ( 7C37vHB ) . It simply wont boot to windows if i enable xmp profile to 3200mhz 4 sticks of ram and when it does randomly weird things start to happen like wont run any program or game , bsods and so on. I manage to enable xmp with 2 sticks and get it stable that way , i tested all 4 combinations. Now with the 4 ram sticks i can only run at 2400mhz without any problems.
Maybe i should try to flash back to a older version since before it was working?
Im just pulling my hair off with this XD

System specs:

CPU : Ryzen 3700x with kraken x62
MOBO: x570 A-Pro
RAM : 32GB Team Goup Nighthawk 3200mhz

Same problem here with 4 memory sticks dont work.

After placing the 4 memories of 16GB 3733 the system does not start.
Do the tests and go back to the BIOS screen.

It has already been tested with 2 x16Gb in 3733 and it works, it just doesn't work with 4 x16GB
All memories were tested individually and in pairs, and only when I put 4 combs that don't work.
Am I doing something wrong?
The memory model is:
Hyperx Fury Rgb, 32gb (2x16gb), 3733mhz, Ddr4, Cl19

Well i tryed to flashback the bios version to an older one that i had before ( 7C37vH4 ) , and its working now with the 4 sticks at 3200mhz with xmp enabled.

I Dont know why or what they changed after that version, i basically tryed every version that is available there and this one seems to be the only one that works with the 4 sticks , give it a try i guess.

Lets hope someone who have more knowledge about this to have any solution for this problem .

This version (7C37vH4) accept Ryzen 7 5800x?
