Guys I was wondering if there is any modded BIOS for my Neo4-F (MS-7125) I have. I read somwhere that there is, probably the ,Murdoch modded BIOS....so if anyone can help me with the address.....Thanks a lot...

Yes Neo4-F MS-7125 PCB 1.0 use the same bios .Board MS-7125 PCB 1.0 bios series w7125nms.10 -> w7125nms.1D
PCB 3.0 revision though use another series w7125nms.50 -> w7125nms.53

Folks

I've been looking for a BIOS upgrade that works on my Neo4-F MB (PCB 1.0) as I want to upgrade my cpu to one of the new AMD dual cores. I've made two attempts using live update and both times my system will not boot. Using the most current version (1.D) the system erports a failure due to overclocking and goes back and tries to reboot. My system isn't overclocked.

Any suggestions  :wall:

Thanks

Thanks for the info.  :worship:

I was not aware that I had to do these things. I performed the steps that were perscribed in the instructions. There was no mention of clearing the CMOS after the flash or loading the optimized defaults. If these steps are common or keys to success why were they not in the instructions?

I was afraid that shoudl I experiment too much with the BIOS that I would not be able to get my PC working. I was given the impression that the flash was all that was needed.  :shocking:

Since this process is new to me, what would happen if I perform the steps you suggested and that didn't work and I needed to go back to my original BIOS version? :(

I'm not sure this is worth the effort.

Thanks

Well....I did my flashing even when my system was o'clocked...God knows wats wrong with ur 1. Anyway, its better not to flas when its o'clocked. clear the CMOS nd flash it. Make sure u flash with the exact Awdflash program came with the BIOS from the MSI site....Cheers

Thanks for the reply. However,  my system was not overclocked nor was it unstable. I just want to be able to upgrade my CPU to a new AMD dual core. The current BIOS (Rev 1.2) will not support this CPU. I've made several attempts to Flash my BIOS using the recommended process (Liveupdate , floppy disk, etc) and have been unsuccessful. The BIOS reports that it has been successful but the system will not boot. It goes so far and then starts over or goes to the screen for booting into safe mode. It will not even boot in safe mode. :wall:

My point is that if there is another method that would insure success then I would be glad to use it. So far I've gotten little in the way of helpful suggestions from MSI and am about to purchase a new MB (Not MSI) to ensure that I can upgrade my CPU. :angryfire:

Thanks

You need to flash it complete .
Did you do
awfl859g w7125nms.1d /py /sn /wb /cd /cc /ld /e
Turn off PSU (remove AC) and clear cmos with jumper .

Boot up and enter cmos setup and "Load Optimized Defaults" + F10 for save exit (nothing else at this time)

Thanks for the feeback  :)

I did what the folks at MSI put in their BIOS Flashing instructions.  I used the live update as stated and didn't get the desired result. I can't afford to have my PC down while I spend weeks chasing down obscure instructions that should have been included in the Flash Bios install procedure.

How would one know what to do to perform this miracle Bios Flashing? Can you explain what the /py /sn /wb /cd /cc /ld /e switches are for? Also, why would one clear the cmos or have to ""Load Optimized Defaults"" when no hardware or cmos settings have been changed? Also, what method are you suggesting with the command line awfl859g w7125nms.1d ???

Inquiring minds want to know.  :lol_anim:

Again thanks for the info.  :)

As for the "Load Optimized Defaults" reason , see :
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=100566.msg732929;topicseen#msg732929

/py means program main bios block
/sn means do not make a backup of old bios to floppy
/wb means update the bios boot block
/cd means clear DMI-data hw pool
/cc means clear cmos (doesn't always work so you always have to clear with jumper after flash)
/ld means destroy existing checksum in onboard cmos , giving the load of new values a fresh start and proper load.
/e means return to dos prompt after flash (gives the possibility to rerun the flash if something goes wrong)

Only this will give a clean flash with all updated and a clean motherboad/cmos like iif the board was newly delivered from factory with the new bios version.

Sorry guys ain't happening on my PC. The PC runs fine on 1.2 but will not run with any other revision of BIOS. I've tried all the above mentioned ways of flashing.  :crying:

Any other Ideas  :wall:

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. The MB is out of warranty and I'm a Displaced IT guy without a job. So it looks as if I'll be keeping this MB till it dies. I truly believe that MSI sent out this MB knowing they were marginal. I got one of the first ones when they came out. It's always been a little flakey but mostly runs well. I recently downloaded a new video driver for my 6600GT and the system seems to run better.

Thanks
