Hi everyone, I’m facing a strange issue and would really appreciate some help or insights.

My PC specs:

  • GPU: GALAX GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 EX (1-Click OC) Dual Fan
  • CPU: Intel i5-9400F
  • Motherboard: MSI B360M Bazooka (BIOS version 7B24v2D)
  • RAM and other components are working fine
  • Display output is via HDMI to the GPU

The issue:

Whenever I enable UEFI mode in the BIOS (instead of Legacy), my screen goes completely black during boot. There’s no POST screen, no BIOS logo — just nothing. Once Windows finishes loading, the screen comes back and everything looks normal.
Here’s the weird part:
If I reset the BIOS to default, everything works fine again — I can see POST, BIOS screen, etc. But the moment I switch back to UEFI mode (regardless of Secure Boot being enabled or disabled), the black screen issue returns during boot.

Summary:

  • BIOS at default (Legacy) → Works fine
  • BIOS set to UEFI mode (with or without Secure Boot) → Black screen during boot
  • Once Windows loads → Display is normal again

Things I’ve already tried:

- Updated BIOS to the latest version
- Swapped HDMI cables
- Reset BIOS settings

My questions:

  1. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
  2. Is there a specific BIOS or display setting I might be missing?
  3. Could it be a compatibility issue between the GALAX GTX 1650 and UEFI on the MSI B360M Bazooka?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi FlyingScot,
Thanks a lot for helping me out!

I’ve followed your guide starting from step 4a. Unfortunately, when I used NVIDIA’s firmware tools, they couldn’t find any compatible firmware for my GPU (screenshot attached). I also checked the forums discussing VBIOS updates, but none of them include a VBIOS for the GTX 1650. Even on TechPowerUp, I couldn’t find any official or suitable VBIOS/iGPU firmware for this card.

Also, just a quick FYI — when using Windows 11 in UEFI mode, the BIOS shows “No driver found” under the iGPU section, which seems odd.

At this point, I haven’t found any clear explanation for why this is happening with my GTX 1650. I’ve been researching this issue for about two months now, but I still haven’t come across anyone with exactly the same problem.
Appreciate your support so far!
