The card requires a PCIe x16 slot in order to install it into that, however, the card is only wired up for up to PCIe x8 usage. This means, even if you put it into a slot that supports x16, it'll still only use x8 lanes. This is true for ALL RX 550 cards......

AMD did this to cut costs, and because the card just isn't capable of pushing more data than that in the first place. Basically, it's a cheap card because it's.....cheap.

The PCIe x 16 slot is no problem and I tend to agree with your x8 but there are a couple versions by some other sellers that state x16 not to sure I believe them
So Ill keep looking
Thanks Mike

Every model will be PCIE-3 x 8 no matter who makes it the GPU DIE is supplied by AMD to all vendors and it is only capable of x8

Honestly? No idea. Why do you care if it's x16 or x8?
With these low end cards, you're not going to be stressing an x8 bus......

Sorry if I offended you about my cheap low end card However I don't have a $1000 or more just laying around
I simply wanted to know if this is a decent card And not sure I understand the stressing a X8 buss my mb's all have x16 so I thought maybe take advantage of that
I won't bother again but thanks for your input

Honestly, just googling what you want can help more than we can here....
rx 550 vs 1650 would get you a number of reviews and other comparison sites that will show you the differences.

It comes down to asking the right questions.
How many lanes a PCIe GPU uses doesn't really determine it's performance. Even 2080's and 3080's in SLI were still only using an x8 bus.....and the performance hit doing that was very minor overall.......

Concentrate on the performance.

I'm running my RX 6900xt at 4x8 with less than 2% performance loss
so it is not all that important to be running all 16 lanes
Even the all Might power sucking 4090 will not lose any noticeable performance at 4x8 compared to 4X16

Look for a Radeon RX 580 8GB Graphics Card
That should be in your budget range

Outside of benchmarks, performance difference between x8 and x16 is not something you're able to notice really. Besides, certain cards were designed that way so the manufacturer considered x8 to be sufficient for that specific chip and x16 was just added cost for no performance benefit.
