How can we report it directly to MSI agents (technical service) ???
Hello,
I bought MSI GS66 Stealth in May this year (2021) and have the same problem described above. I don't think it is accident, and I'm sure there are more people with this issues.
This is new (2021) laptop with RTX 30, there must be something wrong they just missed. I don't wish to pay for repair. I paid enough for new machine which is only 1 month live.
In my case the volume changes by itself, one time down, another time up, underestimated in relation to the system volume. For example, a volume of 34% once heard as less than 10% once as if 60%. Sometimes 100% sounds like 30%. The left speaker is crackling sometimes. It is hard to describe and predict. But it's very annoying. When headphones are on it's ok.
In my opinion, it is not physical damage to the speakers or the computer, it must be something other like the driver or incompatibility with the system.
I went thru the websites exploring similar cases not only with MSI, I have tried some solutions ( one was similar like above ), nothing helped. I'm giving up. I had GT72 before, I was 100% satisfied, unfortunately due to video card and screen fault, no point to fix it, I have chosen MSI again blind with a belief of its value I'm bit disappointed now. Hope it's going to be solved without involving customers pockets.
Please let me know if there is any solution of it.
Kind Regards
Thank you Amaella. This seems to be a viable fix. Ive been blasting edm through the Microsoft driver instead of the realtek for the last 3 hrs. the issue hasnt resurfaced. You do lose some audio enhancements but its much better than sitting through the random speaker spikes and drops. That does indeed point to a driver issue, maybe a conflict with another driver or something... The one you selected now and which appears to work is most likely a generic audio driver by microsoft, so not realtek. That will knock some audio features out, so I would not accept it as a solution and keep reporting the issue both to msi and realtek.
Thank you John. This seems to be a viable fix for me. Ive been blasting edm through the Microsoft driver instead of the realtek for the last 3 hrs to recreate the issue. What seems to be helping for me at the time, is to go into device manager and disable the Speakers (Realtek Audio) under Audio inputs and outputs. Still testing but seems to work for me. I do believe it is some sort of driver issue, not hardware. Let me know if that helps!
UPDATE: Still doing it..
SECOND UPDATE: Went into device manager again, under Sound. video and game controllers, into Realtek(R) Audio properties. Update driver, browse my computer for drivers, let me pick a list of drivers installed on my computer, and selected High Definition Audio Device. So far its working, but who knows if it'll stay that way.
HOPEFULLY FINAL UPDATE: Been browsing for hours with no problem. Hope this helps someone!
Im not sure if its different for GE66 but i found another fix that might work. So after i replaced the driver with Windows driver, i downloaded the Realtek driver from realtek instead of windows repository. After two restarts, the sound hoping seemed to stop. Give that a shot.I'm having the same problem with the MSI GE66 Raider that I bought back in February 2021. For me, the left speaker volume drops to near zero, and the right speaker volume drops by 50%. After a reboot, the volume returns to normal, but then drops, as described above, pretty quickly during normal use. I use the laptop for video editing, so this is a serious issue for me!
I tried the fix suggested by johnhaneyinthefles156202d9 on page 2. However, when I go to the device manager and replace the driver for the "Realtek(R) Audio" with the "High Definition Audio Device" driver and a system reboot, I lose all sound! When looking at the Sound control panel, I can see the levels meter for the Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio) moving during audio playback, so audio is being routed to them, it's just that nothing is played through the speaker. I went back to the device Manager and chose the "Realtek High Definition Audio Version 6.0.9088.1 (12/22/20)" driver, and got sound back. I think it unlikely that I fixed anything, but at least I have sound again. In fact, the audio issue occurred again just a minute or two after uploading this message, so I'm back to square one.
