Hello All

I have searched this forum, and although I have found some threads, they don't quite seem to match my issue.

Newly-built system comprising:
MSI B450M A Pro Max (using on-board graphics)
32 GB (16x2) Corsair Vengeance DDR$ RAM 2666
Ryzen 5 2600X + Spire Cooler

I powered on the PC after putting all the components together (+ SSD - currently new and with no OS), and having connected it to a monitor via HDMI socket.

The power light comes on the case, the RGB fan comes on, the cooler fan comes on, but nothing is shown on my monitor. It goes through the circling of types of video (RGB, HDMI then DVI), but detects nothing, and the screen stays blank. I tried this with a working monitor and HDMI cable (from my current, yet old, machine). Unfortunately, I don't have a DVI cable to test output through DVI.

Have I missed something? Something on the M/B needs configuring?

Btw, my case does not have a buzzer/speaker, so beeps won't happen.

I would appreciate any advice/suggestions or more questions to further understand my issue.

Many thanks.

You need an APU with Vega graphics to use the motherboard HDMI. Go get a discrete video card which is required for your setup.

One of the recent Turing cards are popular. So are the Polaris cards.

Hi HG

Many thanks for your reply.

I see these are designed for gamers, which my machine is not, so will any decent graphics card do the trick, such as RADEON RX550 4GB?

It's annoying, as I was led to believe that the on-board graphics would be sufficient, and I hadn't factored the extra cost for a dedicated graphics card, whatever the price...
