b450i Gaming Plus AC and Ryzen 5600g Memory Issue

I suspect a BIOS version issue as my system refuses to boot with a memory module in the second slot (furthest from the CPU socket). My troubleshooting story so far:

1st Attempt:
Received New Ryzen 5600g, assembled system but it wouldn't post. Light remained on for CPU on the motherboard. Tested both RAM modules in both slots, but anytime the second memory slot was populated it would not post. System would post with either memory module in the first slot. Suspected a bad memory controller on the 5600g so put my old Athlon 200ge in the board. It posted with both memory slots populated so requested a replacement 5600g.

2nd Attempt:
Got replacement 5600g, assembled system it posted with both memory slots occupied only once. After that the system is behaving exactly as the first attempt. I have reset CMOS multiple times and even tried a completely different set of memory (BLS2K16G4D30AESC) with the same results. No Post.

I removed the memory from the second slot and it posts. I am typing this message on the system with only one memory stick installed in the closest slot. Since I have confirmed that an Athlon 200ge can post with both memory modules it leaves either the CPU or the motherboard at fault. I have now attempted two 5600g's with two separate memory kits and the same problem occurs, I suspect the motherboard firmware.

Specs:

Ryzen 5600g
MSI b450i Gaming Plus AC Bios Version 7A40vAG
Memory Crucial Ballistix 16GB (BL2K8G32C16U4B)
No overclocking, no XMP, stock everything, using the iGPU no dedicated graphics.

Is there a known issue with either memory compatibility or this bios version? Any recommendations?

That is odd. Hmm, you've tried other ram, but also Micron (Crucial). Can you try some RAM from a different brand?
What is your CPU cooler and your PSU model?

I do not have any other RAM to test otherwise I would. I am using a Noctua l9a-am4, the PSU is the PSU that comes with the InWin Chopin Pro, a 200W Gold.

Try these Bios versions
Bios Version 1.2.0.6C
E7A40AMS.AF7

Bios 1.2.0.3c
E7A40AMS.AF5
I attempted both with the same results. To double check that I hadn't made an error in my troubleshooting, I reinstalled the Athlon 200ge, it immediately picked up the second module of memory. I am now running with 16GB of memory with the Athlon 200ge, on bios version 1.2.0.3c (the last one I tried) and is what I am typing this reply on. So the memory is not bad. I'm back to either getting two CPU's with bad memory controllers, or an issue with the motherboard working with the 5600g.

To find out you would need to test CPU in a seperat board as it kind of 50-50 on waht the problem is now.

Can rule out BIOS and Memory leaves Board or CPU odds of two bad CPU in a row is very very low.

I tested the 5600g on an Asrock b550m pro4 and it posted just fine with 2 sticks of crucial 16GB memory (BLS2K16G4D30AESC). I didn't try this previously as it's my Unraid server and it's a pain to take apart. So this is now down to the BIOS/Motherboard of the MSI b450i Gaming Plus AC.

I've ordered a Gigabyte board (b550i aorus pro ax) as I can't really wait for a fix that could take weeks/months. I do appreciate the assistance and troubleshooting help. I'll post back here with an update if the Gigabyte board posts fine with the 5600g.

I received the Gigabyte board today and installed the 5600g and both sticks of memory. It booted first time without issue. I am currently installing my OS and everything is going well. So it does appear there is an issue with the MSI motherboard firmware working with the 5600g.

Thank you for your assistance and troubleshooting help!
