Hello people,

finally upgraded my ancient 1600x to a 5600. I've checked that I needed a newer BIOS for that so I M-Flashed the latest stable one (7B84vAN).
Did CMOS reset (pins) all that jazz aaaaaand, it's stuck on a CPU LED. Tried :

- earlier versions of the BIOS (7B84vAM, 7B84vAL etc..) no luck
- minimal config
- one RAM stick, clear CMOS every time, also drained the battery

What might be the cause? My last idea is to get a replacement CPU but I've never had a dud CPU tbh, but hey never say never. Any ideas?

Thank you

I was looking at your PSU this is high end PSU but was first introduced in 2017. When did you buy it? We may have to consider age in this situation. Can you borrow a good and not too old PSU from a friend for testing? It would help us further in the inquiry.

I bought it in 2020 I think. I have another PSU which is more recent unit, EVGA P6 850W (Seasonic platform). I am gonna try it in a minute, don't think PSU have anything to do with it tho.

It lives! Before i swapped out the PSU I've tried to power it on once again for giggles and it booted up -_-
That being said I've previously tried countless memory swaps/trainings, CMOS clears, nothing. I hate computers.

Glad to hear the system is back up and running. That's always a relief.

May be it was a wire that was not connected properly or a plug not properly connected to a wire? It may be worth checking that out.

Indeed. I've double-checked the cables before so it's not likely but who knows.... really don't understand it. Maybe it needed specific sequence of CMOS clear, power drain I don't know.
Computers are sometimes mystery to me.
