"Battery Calibration" doesn't work with the latest Windows 10 Creator's Update or any other previous update of Windows 10, When I open "Battery Calibration" just nothing happens ! Sometimes I notice that it ran but closed immediately in like 0.5 second! So I think it's crashing when I run it.
I'm using MSI GT70 2OC and it's been a while since I did a Battery Calibration and I need to do it now and every while! I'm using this notebook for my work.
BTW old versions of Battery Calibration didn't work as well.

That is what I'm talking about, the latest version doesn't work, or the one before or even the 2 years old one! I think all this started to happen ever since the Anniversary update till now!

Yes 1.0.1609.1901 and I even tried troubleshooting compatibility with no luck!

How is the battery status? If the battery indicator is blanking with orange light now, try to power off the device and remove the battery for 10 seconds. Then, you could attach it back and check the indicator again.

The battery is fine, And I don't want it to come to that so I want to keep it healthy and safe with Battery Calibration but I can't use it for more than a year now. it was working on the first build of Windows 10 BTW, but since anniversary update and now creator's update it doesn't work at all! Is my "GT70 2OC" compatible with the app? it better be because it was an expensive notebook and I'm using it for work.

I did not find a new version either but did you try to uninstall/reinstall the software?

I reinstalled the Battery Calibration twice. I believe that the issue is with Dragon Control; I uninstalled Dragon Control and Battery Calibration, yet when I reinstalled Dragon Control, both appeared. I think that its bugged or something.

Okay, I finally got the battery calibration to work.

The issue was that the Micro Star SCM service was disabled, which prevented the battery calibration, and presumably other Dragon features, from working. To fix this issue, simply go to your Microsoft services (type in services in search bar), then set Micro Star SCM to manual, then click apply to keep the change. Remember to start the service or else it will not work.

It appears that windows update periodically disable MSI services, so this issue may pop up fro time to time. The solution should be the same.

To fix the issue where the XBOOST function is inexplicably missing from Dragon Control, you need to activate MSI_ActiveX_Service; use the exact method described above, although you may need to set it to automatic instead of Manual.

Thank you so much!!!! it finally worked!! After like 1.5 years!!!
How & Why Windows updates disables MSI services on an MSI machine is beyond me !!!!!
Anyway I still can't believe it is actually working lol ! Thanks a lot again! :worship:
BTW sorry for not replying to your message, I just saw it right now !

Experiencing same problem. Reinstalled and re-deleted MSi Dragon Center and Battery Calibration on multiple occasions with no success. Running W10 on GT72VR-6RE.

Program starts up and instantly shuts down or fails to load. Need to resolve to maintain battery health.

Did you try the workaround provided by richardjsejour?

The only way I found to make it work it to create a shortcut on your desktop, log off, log on and immediately open the MSI Battery Calibration before everything else open and it will work.

I just got my laptop yesterday, a GL62M...the Dragon app was working when I first opened it. Then windows installed the gazollion Windows 10 updates and it no longer works. As for the battery calibration tool, when it opens there is a dialog asking if I really want to close the app and it disappears within half a second.
I tried to set the MSI service to manual, restart it...didn't work. I tried the shortcut to desktop and even tried Win8 compatibility mode and open as admin. Nothing works!
Obviously, Windows is breaking the apps but I am stuck with new shiny buttons that are useless! :undecided:

Are you able to sort out which KB causes the issue like this?
Maybe from the update history?

It was either the cumulative update KB4088776 or the feature update to version 1709. I uninstalled MSI Dragon and battery calibration, did a system health check and restore due to a loop in the windows update sequence. After this was fixed, I reinstalled the MSI apps and they work! :)

Only thing that I need to figure out is why the power options only let me select Eco or Power Options which opens Windows power options.

I have a different issue. The battery calibration ran and did its thing but when I started playing FFXV after several hours I started getting FPS drops. When I Alt-Tabbed out my battery was at 30%. So while it did "calibrate", it didn't work I guess. The day before I calibrated I did open up the back panel to clean the fans and apply new thermal paste. My Windows also isn't up to date, I have the network I use set to metered connection so I can have some modicum of control on my update process. What I read here confirms my reasoning as to why I don't want automatic updates.

After reading richardjsejour's post, I checked and saw that SCM was indeed disabled. So I guess I'll update it and try it again.

So I just updated to the latest version. Calibrator discharged completely and started to recharge. However after only a little bit of recharging and it said it was complete. I thought it was supposed to do the whole charging thing as well?
Then it said I need to calibrate my battery. I think it's borked. Am going to test if there are issues whilst gaming. As I stated earlier FFXV had FPS issues from my battery dropping to 30%, the battery indicator stated "30% Discharging". Why is it in a discharge state while playing games?
