MSI nor this Forum takes any responsibility if you kill your board or your bios flash goes wrong.  Just as Jack states
you are using this entireley at your own risk.

One of the most obvious bug is: If I pop in a 800FSB CPU, instead of showing 200 in the FSB adjustment item, it shows 266!?  :shocking:

It needs quite a bit of calculation to get the desired (real) FSB

And the board tops up quite fast, I only managed to get it working stable at 223 FSB, anything higher is a no-go  ;-((

Forgot to mention, in the future, are you intended to release a RELEASE version of BIOS including OC options, instead of BETA only? Thanks!

Hi,

note that this is a user-to-user forum.  Nobody here works for MSI.  The BIOS in this thread is a non-official custom BIOS from MSI China that was released on special user request.  If you have problems with this BIOS, it will be hard to do much about it.  This board is not designed for overclocking to begin with.

Forgot to mention, in the future, are you intended to release a RELEASE version of BIOS including OC options, instead of BETA only? Thanks!

There is not I or we that could reply to your question in an official manner.  However, in my personal oppinion it is very unlikely.

Hi all there ;D

Is this Beta version compatible with Vista OS?
Anybody try it...and sorry :noidea:...but which is the correct way for flash Bios under Vista OS :wall: :wall: ?????

Iam  :) because everythink be perfect after flashing my MB Bios with Beta Bios.
Its really easy to make it if you read carefully all introductions.
My OS is Vista Home Premium SP1 so if somebody want it just... do it

Question
How can change Bus speed or FSB?
This is my current CPU information:
CPU-0 Pentium 4E 550 (Prescott) 3.40GHz [ES]  Family 15  Model 3 (03)  Stepping 4  Revision 17  PAS 64GB  APIC 0.0.0  CPUs 2 Cores 1x2
3.43GHz CPU Max 3.44GHz [D0]      Core 1.39 Volts
202MHz System Bus (FSB)              Temp 50.0?C (50-58)
3.43GHz L2 Cache HP+ AP+
GenuineIntel HTT (2)                        Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
3.43GHz CPU Max 3.44GHz [D0]

But under System information i can see this?? do you know why its happen?

Intel Pentium 4E 544 (Prescott) [D0] 3.43GHz Socket T LGA-775  (Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz)  (x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4)  <SIIP4H>

Thx for this beta bios, my crucial is now running at 705Mhz...

But I still have my P4E 3.2GHz (and recognized as it in bios) on x14 instead of x16 and I dont know why...

P4E 3.2GHz @ 2.96GHz (thx to x14)
2GB DDR2 667MHz Crucial @ 705MHz

I think that this beta bios have a little bug or something like that!

I've tryed with 2 diferent CPUs with the same FSB (533Mhz (133))
Celeron D 330 (133x20)
Pentium 4 HT 3,06 (133x23)

With both, I can reach the FSB 149 very stable even at Full Load!!! If I set FSB = 150Mhz The sistem doesn't startup... I have to Clear CMOS to get the default config and start again.

Someone having the same problem?

sorry my english. (From Portugal)

Thanks Jack the Newbie for posting this - I can set my ram to 667MHz now - any extra speed is welcome - the USB flash tool made everything pretty simple - I did get the 266MHz FSB reading for my CPU in Bios but it shows in Windows XP as 3.40 @ 3.423 so nothing really to complain about there.

Thanks again for the link.

I have 2go of DDR2 667 and a celeron prescot 335D 533fsb (2.8ghz), after flashing my bios with this beta bios, my ram still running at 533, it is normal ? it is because a have a 533fsb processeur ?

Memory Speed is determined in relation to the FSB Frequency and can be adjusted via the FSB/DRAM Ratio Option in the Cell Menu.  What counts are "real" frequency values, not effective ones.  The "real" FSB Frequency of your processors is 533/4 = 133 MHz.  The real frequency for DDR2-667 memory modules is 1/2 of this effective rating: 333 MHz.

To get to a memory clock speed of 333 MHz while the FSB Clock is @133 MHz, you need a factor of x2.5:

133 MHz x 2.5 = 333 MHz

...or an FSB/DRAM Ratio of 1:2.5.  I suppose that the highest possible FSB/DRAM Ratio that the BIOS allows is 1:2 (that is the usual maximum on Intel Chipset Boards), or:

133 MHz x 2 = 266 MHz (= DDR2-533)

So yes, as long as the FSB Clock Speed is 133 MHz (or 533 MT/s), DDR2-533 is the maximum speed you can run your memory at.

And another question, i can't set RPM of my fan in the bios..i means it is not working, and my fan run at 5000rtm it is very very noisy...someone have a solution ?

Are you talking about the CPU Fan?  Does it have a 4-Pin-PWM-Connector?

Hi Jack - you seem to understand this board better than any one - thanks for your time and effort here -

I am curious why in Cell option in bios the FSB shows 266Mhz ( the setting that is adjustable from 266 to 500 or 600) - this did report 200 FSB in original official bios but of course the memory wouldnt scale to DDR2 667Mhz either - not a problem but more a question out of curiosity - thanks again for your help.

The BIOS is automatically setting the FSB Frequency to 266 MHz as the default setting even though the CPU is supposed to run @200 MHz FSB Clock Speed?  Does that happen even after a CMOS Reset with main A/C power cable removed from PSU (and loading Defaults in BIOS)?

This should not happen, if the default FSB Clock Speed for you processor is 200 MHz.  However, as the BIOS Release discussed in this thread is actually a BETA/Custom Release, there may be unexpected side effects.

Thanks for responding so soon - the bios information permits a setting of 266 FSB as the lowest setting available in Cell option - in Windows XP the processor reports as 3.428 MHz - very close to the expected 17x200=3400 rating for this 3.4 GHz processor - if the FSB was truly the 266FSB reported in bios the processor should report a much higher 17x266=4522.

As much as I would appreciate a 4.5 GHz processor, I do not believe I possess one - temps are the same since the bios flash and this would not be consistent for such a large overclock.  I believe my FSB for my CPU must be still very close to 200 and very far from the 266 reported in Bios.

Thank you again for your help.
